Mario Balotelli reported a temperature of 38.7C (101.66F) which is indeed above the normal body temperature of 37C (99.5F).
The Liverpool striker may also have felt hot, sweaty, thirsty, very uncomfortable and slightly hungry. He may also have felt tired.
Should body temperature reach 40C (104F), the person will be dehydrated and may suffer from vomiting and dizziness.

Brendan Rodgers revealed Balotelli withdrew himself from the squad on Saturday and fell ill on Wednesday

The Brazilian playmaker put in a real all-action display for his team.
As well as scoring the winner, he had the most shots, most touches, the highest duel success, highest dribble completion, and the most tackles.

Lucas Leiva is relishing the opportunity to return to Wembley with Liverpool after injury prevented the Brazilian from featuring in any of the club's last three visits to the national stadium.

The midfielder played his part as Brendan Rodgers' side battled past Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Wednesday night to reach the FA Cup semi-finals, inspired by another magical moment from Philippe Coutinho.
The No.10 swapped passes with Jordan Henderson on the edge of the opposition penalty area with 20 minutes remaining in the quarter-final replay before surging towards goal and beating Simon Eastwood with a smart finish.
Liverpool can now look forward to facing Aston Villa in the final four of the competition on April 19, on a day when the Reds will return to Wembley for the first time since 2012.
Kenny Dalglish steered them to three showpiece clashes at the national stadium at the end of that season, but a serious knee injury meant Lucas was unable to contribute - and now he's determined to make amends.

"Unfortunately I got an injury before we got to Wembley," he told Liverpoolfc.com following the triumph over Rovers. "So I missed [the chance to play there].
"Hopefully I'll be fit and be able to play at Wembley. I've never played there, so it will be a very good experience and after many years here, to have that chance is amazing.
"I think everyone could see how hard we worked. We knew it was going to be a very hard game in difficult conditions, but I think we did well and we are so happy to get to Wembley and hopefully get to the final."
Coutinho's strike, with the clock ticking down at Ewood Park, carried the Reds to Wembley and saw the diminutive playmaker mobbed by his teammates as the travelling Kop danced with sheer delight.
While at Bolton Wanderers in an earlier replay it was an instinctive curler from range that settled the tie, Wednesday's decisive effort was all about poise and agility as the attacker darted towards goal before finishing with precision.
"I have known him for a very long time and I know what he's capable of doing," insisted Lucas.
"He's becoming an even bigger player for the club and he's got a long way to go in terms of age and experience, but he's already right there with the top players."

Hendo's dash from baby to Blackburn

Author: James Carroll

Brendan Rodgers revealed how Jordan Henderson was determined to dash back from the birth of his second child to captain Liverpool to the FA Cup semi-finals with a 1-0 win at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday night.

The midfielder's partner gave birth to a baby girl overnight and Henderson left the Reds camp to attend the labour and spend time with his family.
The 24-year-old then rejoined up with his teammates at their hotel in Lancashire before turning in an excellent display at Ewood Park to help the Reds secure a place at Wembley against Aston Villa.
Rodgers explained in his post-match press conference: "Jordan Henderson actually had to go back from the hotel - his partner had their second child during the night, so he had gone away, hadn't slept so much and travelled back again and put in a performance like he did tonight, a real captain's performance.
"Some players maybe would have missed the game, but he said to me: 'Boss, as soon as the baby's out I'll be coming back!' There was a car waiting!
"He spent time with his young partner, child and family, which is great, but he said, 'I'll be back' - and he was. He had his lunch, he had a good sleep this afternoon and then played like a real captain."
Meanwhile, Rodgers confirmed Liverpool will check on injuries sustained by Mamadou Sakho and Daniel Sturridge at Ewood Park.
Sakho was withdrawn after 28 minutes of the contest, while Sturridge made way with five remaining of the Cup tie.
"We'll see [with Sakho] in the morning," said Rodgers. "He felt his hamstring tighten, so we'll just need to see it.
"Daniel Sturridge had a bit of tightness, so we took him off and we'll assess that tomorrow."
