Three Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials were on Friday arraigned in court over irresponsible handling of election materials during Tuesday’s General Election.
Esokon Bernard, John Nabian and Ekori Albert were attached to the Laisamis Constituency Tallying Centre in Marsabit County, where they are said to have abandoned election materials after close of voting.
According to the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the trio did not accompany the materials to the tallying centre and also refused to upload Forms 34A to the IEBC portal as required.
Appearing before the court on Friday, the three were charged with breach of official duty. Plea-taking in the case was deferred and the matter is now set to be mentioned in Isiolo on Monday, August 15.
