Msemaji wa kampeni za urais wa Azimio la Umoja Makau Mutua ametoa wito wa kufanyiwa mageuzi katika usimamizi wa shughuli ya uchaguzi.
Mutua amesema Tume Huru ya Uchaguzi na Mipaka inafaa kugatuliwa ili kuimarisha ufanisi na uwazi.
Amesema sheria za sasa za uchaguzi zimeipa IEBC mamlaka zaidi na ziko wazi kutumiwa vibaya.
"Jambo hili tata la chombo cha kitaifa cha uchaguzi labda ni jambo tunalohitaji kuliangalia. Tujiulize, tuendelee kuwa na chombo cha taifa cha uchaguzi au tukivunje katika vyombo 47 tofauti? ".

Azimio la Umoja presidential campaign spokesperson Makau Mutua called for reforms in the management of the election process.
Mutua said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission should be devolved to enhance efficiency and transparency.
He said the current election laws had given IEBC more powers and are open to abuse.
According to him, the electoral processes are complicated to the point that IEBC commissioners have more control over elections at county levels. “This complicating factor of a national electoral body is perhaps something we need to look at. To ask ourselves, should we continue to have a national electoral body or should we break it up into 47 different bodies?”

Mutua was basing his example on the electoral processes in the United States, where state officers have the final say in elections of that [particular state. “In other countries like United States, there is nothing like national elections body. Elections are state matters, in that case what is decided at state level is final, there is no overreaching body that decides that so and so has been elected in that particular state,”
