Arusha. Local tour operators have asked the government to back their plea to foreign countries to remove a 14-day mandatory quarantine on tourists returning from Tanzania.
Some company owners who spoke with The Citizen in separate inter- views explained that the requirement to stay in quarantine in their home countries is a major challenge at the moment. The executive secretary of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (Tato), Mr Sirili Akko, said the restrictions were not good for the industry to recover quickly.
“We are very grateful that the government has done a very good job in the fight against Covid-19 and now tourists have started coming to the country,” he said.
Mr Shabir Mohammed said they, as tour operators, still ask the government to continue holding dialogues with embassies in European countries, the United States and other places to continue marketing ‘Destination Tanzanian’.
“The method used by the Tanzanian government to fight the coronavirus pandemic is well known in the world at the moment, but there are still nations that do not understand us…. so there are restrictions on for those who visit Tanzania including a requirement for 14-day mandatory quarantine,” he said.😳😳😳😳
Mr Mohammed said that is costly for them as they are supposed to stay isolated at their own cost. The chairman of the Tanzania Tour Guides Association, Mr Emmanuel Mollel, said tourists had not returned in large numbers as usual due to the impact of Covid-19.
“Still the situation is not as good as usual and we think maybe in the future the situation could be better but if there are challenges, we ask for them to be worked on,” he said.
However, in ensuring tourists return to the country, the Tanzania Tourists Board (TTB) held meetings with ambassadors from several countries to tell them that Tanzania is safe.
TTB managing director Devota Mdachi said they have largely succeeded in attracting tourists from different countries to come to the country especially after Covid-19 was under control.

You are wrong brother!! Decisions we took as a nation were one-directional - not hurting our economy. Macroeconomics deals with things that are outside that you have no control over. If we had considered macroeconomics, we would have known or guessed right the end results of our decisions!! We have cried out loud that we have no covid-19 but we cannot provide scientific proof!! Science cannot be tested against rhetoric!!
And you cannot have a cake and eat it. Choose either you want to keep the cake and feel hungry. Or you eat and you dont have a cake.
You go to airports and see how we are fighting covid-19 spread, fanyastic!! Go to the streets and hear “serikali imesema hakuna korona”. Hear those wearings masks being ridiculed!! And we are wondering why tourism will struggle to get back on its feet?? Really??

Nakubaliana nawe lakini ukweli ni kwamba kutokana na vipato vidogo vya asilimia kubwa ya Watanzania ambao mlo mmoja tu kwa siku unawapa shida itakuwa ni kujidanganya kudhani kwamba utalii wa ndani unaweza kuwa tiba ya utalii wetu.
Kama Tanzania itaendelea kuficha status ya COVID19 Nchini na huu ugonjwa kuendelea kuiathiri dunia hadi 2022 kama inavyodaiwa na wataalamu wa pandemic diseases basi utalii Nchini utaanguka sana kwani Nchi zote duniani zitaendelea kuwalazimisha raia wao watokao Tanzania wawe kwenye karantini ya siku 14 kabla ya kujumuika tena na raia wenzao na hii itawafanya watalii wengi duniani KUIKWEPA Tanzania.

Tourism is not being hurt by the quarantine requirements at the tourists home countries, because those wazungus are used to those practices even during normal local cross municipal travels.
The problem is the non scientific and inhuman corona virus response by our president based on primitive thinking process. So do not try to blame others for your own hopelessness.
I have read somewhere, the chinese have put in place more stringent requirements than quarantine for people who wants to enter china from Tanzania.
we have become a shameful people across the globe because of one shamba boy from chato.

Naungana nawe katika yote uliyoyaandika na kukuunga mkono kwa 110%. Vipato vidogo vya Watanzania vinachangia sana katika kudhoofisha uchumi wa Nchi yetu. Purchasing Power ya Watanzani wengi nadhani inaweza kufika hata 90% ya Watanzania ni ndogo sana hivyo kushindwa kufanya mambo mengi ya kimaendeleo ambayo yangechangia kwa haraka sana kukua kwa uchumi.
Imagine kama Lissu atashinda na aongeze mishahara kama alivyoahidi mara mbili ya hii mishahara ya sasa. Waajiriwa wengi wanaweza kabisa kuwa na excess income hivyo kuwawezesha kufanya mambo mengine ya kimaendeleo kama kufungua biashara, ufugaji, kilimo n.k. hivyo kuongeza kipato chao na kuwa na uwezo hata wa kugharimia safari zao za mbuga za Wanyama au sehemu nyingine za kuvutia Nchini.
Mishahara midogo Nchini ni moja ya vyanzo mbali mbali ambavyo vinachangia uchumi wetu KUSUA SUA. Vingine ni sera mbovu ikiwemo kuingia mikataba mbali mbali ambayo hina maslahi kwa Watanzania.

..binafsi nataka kumsikia TL akisema atajielekeza kwenye kupunguza umasikini wa kila Mtanzania.
..kama mtu ana bodaboda moja sasa hivi basi serikali ya CDM itaweka mazingira yatakayomuwezesha kuwa na bodaboda mbili au zaidi.
..kama kuna mkulima analima eka 4, basi atatengenezewa mazingira ya kulima eka 8 au zaidi kulingana na jitihada zake.
..Na anapozungumzia kuongeza ajira ajaribu kuwaelewesha kwamba ni kwa faida ya kila mTz. Ajira zikiongezeka mama ntilie atauza ubwabwa mwingi zaidi, daladala zitapakia abiria wengi zaidi, wachuuzi watauza mboga, na matunda mengi zaidi, etc etc.
..Kila Mtanzania ni lazima azalishe zaidi, ajiongezee kipato, na alipe kodi.
