TWENTY EIGHTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

FEAST OF SAINT LUKE THE EVANGELIST

FIRST READING
Luke alone is with me.
2ND TIMOTHY 4: 10 - 17ab

Beloved: Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. Luke alone is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you; for he is very useful in serving me. Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments. Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will pay him back for his deeds. Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message. At my first defense no one took my part; all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength to proclaim the word fully, that all the Gentiles might hear it.

The Word of the Lord.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 145: 10 - 11, 12 - 13ab, 17 - 18 (R.) 12a

R/. Your saints, O Lord, make known the glory of your reign.

All your works shall thank you, O Lord,
And all your faithful ones bless you.
They shall speak of the glory of your reign,
And declare your mighty deeds. R/.

To make known your might to the children of men,
And the glorious splendour of your reign.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom;
Your rule endures for all generations. R/.

The Lord is just in all his ways,
And holy in all his deeds.
The Lord is close to all who call him,
Who call on him in truth. R/.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
John 15: 16

Alleluia.
I chose you from the world that you should go and bear fruit and that fruit should abide, says the Lord.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL
The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few
LUKE 10: 1 - 9

At that time: The Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to come. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no purse, no bag, no sandals; and salute no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace shall rest upon him; but if not, it shall return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the labourer deserves his wages; do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you; heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.

TWENTY EIGHTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

MEMORIAL OF SAINT PAUL OF THE CROSS, Priest

FIRST READING
A man is justified by faith apart from works of law.
ROMANS 3: 21 - 30

Brethren: Now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction; since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as an expiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins; it was to prove at the present time that he himself is righteous and that he justifies him who has faith in Jesus. Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On the principle of works? No, but on the principle of faith. For we hold that a man is justified by faith apart from works of law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, since God is one; and he will justify the circumcised on the ground of their faith and the uncircumcised through their faith.

The Word of the Lord.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 130: 1 - 2, 3 - 4, 5 - 6ab (R.) 7bc.

R/. With the Lord there is mercy, in him is plentiful redemption.

Out of the depths I cry to you; O Lord;
Lord, hear my voice!
O let your ears be attentive
To the sound of my pleading. R/.

If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
Lord, who could stand?
But with you is found forgiveness,
that you may be revered. R/.

I long for you, O Lord,
My soul longs for his word.
My soul hopes in the Lord
More than watchmen for daybreak. R/.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION.
John 14: 6.

Alleluia.
I am the way, and the truth, and life, says the Lord; no one comes to the Father but by me.
Alleluia.

GOSPEL
The blood of the prophets will be required, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah.
LUKE 11: 47 - 54

At that time: Jesus said, “Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets whom your fathers killed. So you are witnesses and consent to the deeds of your fathers; for they killed them, and you build their tombs. Therefore also the Wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’ that the blood of all the prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, it shall be required of this generation. Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter yourselves, and you hindered those who were entering.” As he went away from there, the scribes and the Pharisees began to press him hard, and to provoke him to speak of many things, lying in wait for him, to catch him in something he might say.

The Gospel of the Lord.

Morning Reflection (QT)

Introduction.

Jesus returns to the other side of the lake and is back in Jewish territory where he is met by a large crowd.

An official from the local synagogue begs Jesus to heal his daughter.

Within the crowd is a woman who seeks to be healed; she approaches Jesus and touches his cloak.

Reflection.

Today we read about two more healings that Jesus performed. Jairus’s request for Jesus to heal his daughter is interrupted by the healing of a woman who, according to Levitical law, was ritually unclean because of her illness (Leviticus 15:19-30). What risk did she take by approaching Jesus?

What did Jesus say to her? When Jesus arrives at Jairus’s house, why do the people make fun of him?

What do these two healings teach us about faith?

Pray.

Compassionate Lord, in your mercy you reach out to touch and heal. Empower me to be an instrument of your love and peace and to offer the comforting words of your saving love to those who are hurting and need your care.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Luke 8:40-56

ISRAEL WAS NOT GIVEN TO ISRAELI ALONE!

Unfortunately, what the preacher is advocating, in the attached video below, is not supported by the scripture. The covenant between God and Israel was not by blood but by foreskin through men circumcision: It was a covenant of the flesh, not even intended to be by blood on the night of the passover.

Had it been the covenant of blood then Our Lord Christ Jesus the Amen wouldn't have been crucified and died on the Cross. In fact, that is why He said before He died it was finished. Literally, speaking, the Old Testament was pretty much DONE on that day of reckoning!

If there is ever Israel and Jerusalem according to the Old Testament the letters of Peter the Apostle that prophesied this earth shall be burnt wouldn't have been written nor the promise of New Jerusalem and New Earth as meticulously covered in the Book of Revelation.

After the New Covenant of the blood of Our Lord Christ Jesus the Amen the Old Testament lost its relevance.

This is why in the book of Revelation we have better promises when He said He knows who call themselves Jews.
