Evening Prayer

Dear God, as I come to the end of this day, I ask for your forgiveness.

I know that I have fallen short of your expectations, and that I have sinned against you and others.

I ask that you would cleanse me of my sins, and that you would give me the strength to turn away from them.

I pray that you would help me to make things right with anyone I have wronged, and that you would give me the courage to seek reconciliation.

I trust in your forgiveness and mercy, and I pray that I would experience your grace in a powerful way tonight.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

He is wrong. There is no justice, equality or humanity in this conflict.

It is a Biblical matter that few bother to understand it.

Neither side is right.

Both sides are wrong because according to the commandments of God the two sides must live side by side. So, a two state solution is deceptive.

How can they live side by side when both side reject the Prince of Peace, the Lord Christ Jesus the Amen?

We know very well without Christ Jesus the Amen we can do nothing profitable.

On carnal level, this speaker was long in blamegame but short in solutions.

The most important question that he avoided is what do the Palestine wants?

Unless he addresses that basic question the whole carthasis is of no value.

Without Christ Jesus the Amen ro reign their hearts each side final objectives is total annihilation of the other side.

So, pegging for either side is a failure to grasp the issues at hand.

Joshua 23: 11 - 13

Numbers 33: 54-56.

Prayers of Gratitude.

Heavenly Father, I am grateful for the opportunities in my life.

I thank you for the chance to learn, to grow, and to serve others.

I pray that I would be able to make the most of those opportunities, and that I would be able to use my talents and abilities to make a positive impact on the world.

I trust in your provision and care, and I pray that I would experience your guidance and direction as I pursue my dreams and goals.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Responsorial Psalm

78:3 and 4bc, 6c-7, 8

R. (see 7b) Do not forget the works of the Lord! What we have heard and know, and what our fathers have declared to us, we will declare to the generation to come The glorious deeds of the LORD and his strength.

R. Do not forget the works of the Lord! That they too may rise and declare to their sons that they should put their hope in God, And not forget the deeds of God but keep his commands.

R. Do not forget the works of the Lord!

And not be like their fathers, a generation wayward and rebellious, A generation that kept not its heart steadfast nor its spirit faithful toward God.

R. Do not forget the works of the Lord!

Alleluia

Lk 7:16

R. Alleluia, alleluia. A great prophet has arisen in our midst and God has visited his people.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Reading I

Hebrews 4:1-5, 11

Hebrews 4:1

Therefore, let us be on our guard while the promise of entering into his rest remains, that none of you seem to have failed.

Hebrews 4:2

For in fact we have received the good news just as they did. But the word that they heard did not profit them, for they were not united in faith with those who listened.

Hebrews 4:3

For we who believed enter into [that] rest, just as he has said: “As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter into my rest,’” and yet his works were accomplished at the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 4:4

For he has spoken somewhere about the seventh day in this manner, “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works”;

Hebrews 4:5

and again, in the previously mentioned place, “They shall not enter into my rest.”

Hebrews 4:11

Therefore, let us strive to enter into that rest, so that no one may fall after the same example of disobedience.

Gospel

Mk 2:1-12

Mark 2:1

When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days, it became known that he was at home.

Mark 2:2

Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them, not even around the door, and he preached the word to them.

Mark 2:3

They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.

Mark 2:4

Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying.

Mark 2:5

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Child, your sins are forgiven.”

Mark 2:6

Now some of the scribes were sitting there asking themselves,

Mark 2:7

“Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming. Who but God alone can forgive sins?”

Mark 2:8

Jesus immediately knew in his mind what they were thinking to themselves, so he said, “Why are you thinking such things in your hearts?

Mark 2:9

Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, pick up your mat and walk’?

Mark 2:10

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth”—

Mark 2:11

he said to the paralytic, “I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home.”
Mark 2:12

He rose, picked up his mat at once, and went away in the sight of everyone.

They were all astounded and glorified God, saying, “We have never seen anything like this.”

Morning Reflection (QT)

Introduction.

Isaiah’s wife bears him a son, and the LORD tells the prophet Isaiah to give his newborn son a name that symbolizes that the kings of Israel and Syria will be destroyed quickly by their Assyrian foes (verse 3).

But because Ahaz still prefers to seek an alliance with Assyria rather than relying on God, Isaiah warns that the Assyrians will attack Judah.

Reflection.

The references to Damascus and Samaria in verse 4 pertain to the wealth of Syria and Israel to be taken by their Assyrian foes. How does the name of Isaiah’s son relate to what is to take place?

What warning does the LORD give to Isaiah (verses 11, 12)? What does Isaiah tell his disciples (verses 16-20)? Reread verse 20. What is the LORD teaching you today?

Pray.

Almighty God, may the plans I make this day be in accord with your will.

Give me an obedient and humble heart, and teach me to follow you.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Isaiah 8:1-20

Isaiah 8:1

The LORD said to me: Take a large tablet, and inscribe on it with an ordinary stylus, “belonging to Maher-shalal-hash-baz,”

Isaiah 8:2

and call reliable witnesses for me, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah, son of Jeberechiah.

Isaiah 8:3

Then I went to the prophetess and she conceived and bore a son. The LORD said to me: Name him Maher-shalal-hash-baz,

Isaiah 8:4

for before the child learns to say, “My father, my mother,” the wealth of Damascus and the spoils of Samaria shall be carried off by the king of Assyria.

Isaiah 8:5

Again the LORD spoke to me:

Isaiah 8:6

Because this people has rejected the waters of Shiloah that flow gently, And melts with fear at the display of Rezin and Remaliah’s son,

Isaiah 8:7

Therefore the Lord is bringing up against them the waters of the River, great and mighty, the king of Assyria and all his glory. It shall rise above all its channels, and overflow all its banks.

Isaiah 8:8

It shall roll on into Judah, it shall rage and pass on— up to the neck it shall reach. But his outspread wings will fill the width of your land, Emmanuel!

Isaiah 8:9

Band together, O peoples, but be shattered! Give ear, all you distant lands! Arm yourselves, but be shattered! Arm yourselves, but be shattered!

Isaiah 8:10

Form a plan, it shall be thwarted; make a resolve, it shall not be carried out, for “With us is God!”

Isaiah 8:11

For thus said the LORD—his hand strong upon me—warning me not to walk in the way of this people:

Isaiah 8:12

Do not call conspiracy what this people calls conspiracy, nor fear what they fear, nor feel dread.

Isaiah 8:13

But conspire with the LORD of hosts; he shall be your fear, he shall be your dread.

Isaiah 8:14

He shall be a snare, a stone for injury, A rock for stumbling to both the houses of Israel, A trap and a snare to those who dwell in Jerusalem;

Isaiah 8:15

And many among them shall stumble; fallen and broken; snared and captured.

Isaiah 8:16

Bind up my testimony, seal the instruction with my disciples.

Isaiah 8:17

I will trust in the LORD, who is hiding his face from the house of Jacob; yes, I will wait for him.

Isaiah 8:18

Here am I and the children whom the LORD has given me: we are signs and portents in Israel from the LORD of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

Isaiah 8:19

And when they say to you, “Inquire of ghosts and soothsayers who chirp and mutter; should not a people inquire of their gods, consulting the dead on behalf of the living,

Isaiah 8:20

for instruction and testimony?” Surely, those who speak like this are the ones for whom there is no dawn.

Early the next morning they worshiped before the LORD, and then returned to their home in Ramah. When they returned Elkanah had intercourse with his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her.
