Responsorial Psalm
Ps 40:2 and 4ab, 7-8a, 10, 11
R. (8a and 9a)
Here am I Lord; I come to do your will.
I have waited, waited for the LORD,
and he stooped toward me.
And he put a new song into my mouth,
a hymn to our God.
R. Here am I Lord; I come to do your will.
Sacrifice or oblation you wished not,
but ears open to obedience you gave me.
Burnt offerings or sin-offerings you sought not;
then said I, "Behold I come."
R. Here am I Lord; I come to do your will.
I announced your justice in the vast assembly;
I did not restrain my lips, as you, O LORD, know.
R. Here am I Lord; I come to do your will.
Your justice I kept not hid within my heart;
your faithfulness and your salvation I have spoken of;
I have made no secret of your kindness and your truth
in the vast assembly.
R. Here am I Lord; I come to do your will.
Alleluia
Mt 11:25
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Reading I
Heb 10:1-10
Hebrews 10:1
Since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of them, it can never make perfect those who come to worship by the same sacrifices that they offer continually each year.
Hebrews 10:2
Otherwise, would not the sacrifices have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, once cleansed, would no longer have had any consciousness of sins?
Hebrews 10:3
But in those sacrifices there is only a yearly remembrance of sins,
Hebrews 10:4
for it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats take away sins.
Hebrews 10:5
For this reason, when he came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
Hebrews 10:6
holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight in.
Hebrews 10:7
Then I said, ‘As is written of me in the scroll, Behold, I come to do your will, O God.’”
Hebrews 10:8
First he says, “Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, you neither desired nor delighted in.” These are offered according to the law.
Hebrews 10:9
Then he says, “Behold, I come to do your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second.
Hebrews 10:10
By this “will,” we have been consecrated through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Gospel
Mk 3:31-35
Mark 3:31
His mother and his brothers arrived. Standing outside they sent word to him and called him.
Mark 3:32
A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers [and your sisters] are outside asking for you.”
Mark 3:33
But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and [my] brothers?”
Mark 3:34
And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.
Mark 3:35
[For] whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Morning Reflection (QT)
Introduction
Today’s reading begins with an explanation of the meaning of the dedication of the first-born as mentioned in yesterday’s reading in verses 1 and 2 of chapter 13. Upon leaving Egypt, God leads the people through the desert in the form of a pillar of cloud during the day and a pillar of fire by night.
Reflection
Verse 16 is similar to verse 9 from yesterday’s reading about the Festival of Unleavened Bread. According to verses 14-16, what is the observance of the sacrifice of the first-born male animal meant to signify? When leaving Egypt, why did God not take the Israelites along the shortest route? What did the Israelites take with them on their journey (verse 19; see also Genesis 50:25)? What were the signs of God’s presence as the people journeyed through the desert? In what ways do you sense God’s presence in your life each day?
Pray
Holy God, daily you are with me, guiding me along my journey of faith. Teach me to be aware of your faithful presence and to follow your teachings.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Exodus 13:11-22
Exodus 13:11
“When the LORD, your God, has brought you into the land of the Canaanites, just as he swore to you and your ancestors, and gives it to you,
Exodus 13:12
you will dedicate to the LORD every newborn that opens the womb; and every firstborn male of your animals will belong to the LORD.
Exodus 13:13
Every firstborn of a donkey you will ransom with a sheep. If you do not ransom it, you will break its neck. Every human firstborn of your sons you must ransom.
Exodus 13:14
And when your son asks you later on, ‘What does this mean?’ you will tell him, ‘With a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, out of a house of slavery.
Exodus 13:15
When Pharaoh stubbornly refused to let us go, the LORD killed every firstborn in the land of Egypt, the firstborn of human being and beast alike. That is why I sacrifice to the LORD every male that opens the womb, and why I ransom every firstborn of my sons.’
Exodus 13:16
It will be like a sign on your hand and a band on your forehead that with a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt.”
Exodus 13:17
Now, when Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of the Philistines’ land, though this was the nearest; for God said: If the people see that they have to fight, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.
Exodus 13:18
Instead, God rerouted them toward the Red Sea by way of the wilderness road, and the Israelites went up out of the land of Egypt arrayed for battle.
Exodus 13:19
Moses also took Joseph’s bones with him, for Joseph had made the Israelites take a solemn oath, saying, “God will surely take care of you, and you must bring my bones up with you from here.”
Exodus 13:20
Setting out from Succoth, they camped at Etham near the edge of the wilderness.
Exodus 13:21
The LORD preceded them, in the daytime by means of a column of cloud to show them the way, and at night by means of a column of fire to give them light. Thus they could travel both day and night.
Exodus 13:22
Neither the column of cloud by day nor the column of fire by night ever left its place in front of the people.

Reading I
Acts 22:3-16
Acts 22:3
“I am a Jew, born in Tarsus in Cilicia, but brought up in this city. At the feet of Gamaliel I was educated strictly in our ancestral law and was zealous for God, just as all of you are today.
Acts 22:4
I persecuted this Way to death, binding both men and women and delivering them to prison.
Acts 22:5
Even the high priest and the whole council of elders can testify on my behalf. For from them I even received letters to the brothers and set out for Damascus to bring back to Jerusalem in chains for punishment those there as well.
Acts 22:6
“On that journey as I drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from the sky suddenly shone around me.
Acts 22:7
I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
Acts 22:8
I replied, ‘Who are you, sir?’ And he said to me, ‘I am Jesus the Nazorean whom you are persecuting.’
Acts 22:9
My companions saw the light but did not hear the voice of the one who spoke to me.
Acts 22:10
I asked, ‘What shall I do, sir?’ The Lord answered me, ‘Get up and go into Damascus, and there you will be told about everything appointed for you to do.’
Acts 22:11
Since I could see nothing because of the brightness of that light, I was led by hand by my companions and entered Damascus.
Acts 22:12
“A certain Ananias, a devout observer of the law, and highly spoken of by all the Jews who lived there,
Acts 22:13
came to me and stood there and said, ‘Saul, my brother, regain your sight.’ And at that very moment I regained my sight and saw him.
Acts 22:14
Then he said, ‘The God of our ancestors designated you to know his will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of his voice;
Acts 22:15
for you will be his witness before all to what you have seen and heard.
Acts 22:16
Now, why delay? Get up and have yourself baptized and your sins washed away, calling upon his name.’
Gospel
Mk 16:15-18
Mark 16:15
He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Mark 16:17
These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages.
Mark 16:18
They will pick up serpents [with their hands], and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Evening Reflection (QT)
Introduction
Today’s reading continues Paul’s encouragement to the Corinthians to give generously to the collection for the followers of Jesus in Jerusalem. He says that God will increase what the people have so that they can give even more. He says that their gifts will not only help others in their need, but that it will also help others praise God.
Reflection
Reread verses 12-15. Paul says that these gifts have value beyond their material worth. Not only do they provide for people in need, but they also provide people with an example of God’s abundant love and blessings. Have you ever experienced a sense of God’s love through the generosity of others? What actions can you take to reveal and share God’s love with someone today?
Pray
Gracious God, your abundance surrounds me. Thank you for the many gifts you have given me. Help me to be generous with others, that I may bring honor and praise to you and so that others may more deeply understand and experience your love.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
2 Corinthians 9:1-15
2Corinthians 9:1
Now about the service to the holy ones, it is superfluous for me to write to you,
2Corinthians 9:2
for I know your eagerness, about which I boast of you to the Macedonians, that Achaia has been ready since last year; and your zeal has stirred up most of them.
2Corinthians 9:3
Nonetheless, I sent the brothers so that our boast about you might not prove empty in this case, so that you might be ready, as I said,
2Corinthians 9:4
for fear that if any Macedonians come with me and find you not ready we might be put to shame (to say nothing of you) in this conviction.
2Corinthians 9:5
So I thought it necessary to encourage the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for your promised gift, so that in this way it might be ready as a bountiful gift and not as an exaction.
2Corinthians 9:6
Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
2Corinthians 9:7
Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2Corinthians 9:8
Moreover, God is able to make every grace abundant for you, so that in all things, always having all you need, you may have an abundance for every good work.
2Corinthians 9:9
As it is written: “He scatters abroad, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”
2Corinthians 9:10
The one who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
2Corinthians 9:11
You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God,
2Corinthians 9:12
for the administration of this public service is not only supplying the needs of the holy ones but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God.
2Corinthians 9:13
Through the evidence of this service, you are glorifying God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your contribution to them and to all others,
2Corinthians 9:14
while in prayer on your behalf they long for you, because of the surpassing grace of God upon you.
2Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

Reading I
2 Tm 1:1-8
2Timothy 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God for the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
2Timothy 1:2
to Timothy, my dear child: grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
2Timothy 1:3
I am grateful to God, whom I worship with a clear conscience as my ancestors did, as I remember you constantly in my prayers, night and day.
2Timothy 1:4
I yearn to see you again, recalling your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,
2Timothy 1:5
as I recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and that I am confident lives also in you.
2Timothy 1:6
For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands.
2Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but rather of power and love and self-control.
2Timothy 1:8
So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from God.
Gospel
Mk 4:21-25
Luke 10:1
After this the Lord appointed seventy [-two] others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit.
Luke 10:2
He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.
Luke 10:3
Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
Luke 10:4
Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.
Luke 10:5
Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’
Luke 10:6
If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
Luke 10:7
Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another.
Luke 10:8
Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you,
Luke 10:9
cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’
