Habari zenu wakuu,

Kama tunavyojua Kenya imekuwa ikitoa wahitimu wazuri wenye kuleta ushindani katika soko la ajira ndani na nje ya mipaka ya Afrika Mashariki na hivi karibuni nimepata taarifa kuwa wamebadili mfumo wa elimu na kuwa competence based.

Kwa anayeuelewa huu mfumo wa elimu atudadavulie kiundani jinsi ulivyo, na je nchi zingine za Afrika Mashariki zinatumia mfumo gani?

Na je huu sio wakati muafaka wa kubadili mifumo yetu ya elimu kuendana na wakati uliopo?
 
Mfumo huu haswa unalenga talanta/fani/kipaji cha mwanafunzi akiwa bado mchanga kisha anaelekezwa na kutunzwa katika nyanja ile hadi akaiva na kubobea vilivyo.

Ikiwa mwanafunzi ana kipawa cha muziki katika mfumo huu mpya basi atasomea masomo yanayoambatanisha na kipawa hicho hadi akamaliza chuo kikuu.
 
It is actually 2-6-3-3-3 (or 2-6-6-3) to replace 8-4-4 that replaced the East Africa System of 7-4-2-3 that borrowed heavily from British System. British system had exam at std 4 that was rumored to be very tough 🙂 and basically ended education of many Africans before it began.

Meanwhile TZ & UG are still stuck at East African System of the yore- 7-4-2-3

Kenya has done well in education compared to many African countries.

This new systems entails 2yrs in pre-primary. Six years in Primary. And then 3yrs in Junior secondary. And then another 3 years in Senior Secondary - at which point like in German - a kid can choose to pursue university education or vocational training. And then 3yrs at university.

What you call the old system is so robust that it created professionals who studied the cause of traffic jam in Dar and came up with a solution (BRT) in 2003, the one your media came to learn about the other day.

Kenya has done well in education compared to many African countries.
Especially in building bridges/buildings that collapse every time.

Nothing new here, years ago we had technical schools all over the country, knowing not everyone is cut to be an intellectual we set aside some schools just for that. We are always ahead of the curve my friend, so stop fronting.

Hivi sasa kuna mifumo miwili ya elimu. Ya kwanaza ni 8-4-4 iliyoanza mwaka wa 1985. Kabla ya 8-4-4 kulikuwa na 7-4-2-3 kama yenu na ya uganda. Katika mfumo wa 8-4-4, Shule ya msingi ni miaka minane, sule ya upili ni ya miaka minne na chuo kikuu ni miaka minne

Mfumo mpya unaokuja ambao kwa sasa umetekelezwa hadi darasa la tatu, ni wa 2-6-3-3-3

Miaka miwili shule ya Chekechea, 6 msingi, 3 upili wa chini (lower secondary) na 3 upili wa juuu (upper secondary) na mwishowe miaka mitatu katika chuo kikuu.

Lugha inayotumika katika darasa la kwanza hadi tatu inalingana na catchment area. Kiswahili, Kiingereza na Mother Tongue.

Baada ya miaka minane, mwanafunzi anafanya mtihani wa KCPE na katika kidato cha nne mwanafunzi anafanya mtihani wa KCSE.

Cha msingi ni kwamba mfumo wenyewe umebuniwa juzi na wataalam wa nchi hii baada kutumia muda wao kudadavua na kulinganisha mifumo tofauti duniani hadi wakaibuka na huu.
 
Forget the Big 4 agenda,reforms in the education sector will be jubilee government legacy for many years to come,the new curriculum is the best thing to have happened in kenya in recent times,nothing is more fulfilling in life than waking up everyday to do what you love,its called contentment/living,you chase your passion and the rest will follow,what i love about the new system is that it will identify,nurture and bring about the best of ones talent/passion...sometimes its not all about the money,its about passion,you are more likely to contribute to humanity through passion rather than ambition....

Hapana mimi sio mwalimu, ila kuna sehemu hapo nabaki njia panda unaposema kuwa lugha itategemea kati ya english kiswahili or mother tongue, huoni hapo mbeleni ndo itazidi kuchochea ukabila??

Kama umebuniwa na wazawa basi ni kheri maana utaakisi uhalisia wa mazingira ya kawaida ya mkenya na jinsi gani italeta manufaa kwa mustakabali wa taifa hilo, ila bado swali ni kuwa huu mfumo upo kwenye majaribio au ndo ivo tena umeshapitishwa na hakuna kurudi nyuma

In East African the education was initially 2:8:4:2:3, or 4 or 5: that means two years Kindergarten, 8 years primary education, 4 years normal secondary education, 2 years higher secondary education, 3, 4, 5 University education depending on type of Degree ( Engineering, Doctor of Medicine etc)! Currently each country is trying to do experimental systems, just like scientists are busy trying to invent or develop vaccines against killer deceases like Meningitis, HIV/AIDS, Cancer et cetera and looking for human beings for trial tests(guinea pigs before full operations!

Upo kwenye gear, ulishaachiwa hakuna kurudi nyuma, ulianza kwa changamoto zake lakini zilikabiliwa na sasa imebidi twendwe nawo kama ilivyo katiba yetu mpya, kwamba badala ya kurudi nyuma, twende huko mbele tutarekebisha kisichoendana na malengo yetu.
 
BRT was certainly not discovered in TZ - it a WB template ever since it was tried in Latin America.

Anyway I think there is no point arguing the obvious. Kenya education system despite it problems is well regarded. Kenya kids have been consistently found to better than South African kids - when measured - I think equally to Mauritus. Kenya is highly ranked in human capital. Kenya ranks very highly in WEF in quality of education and human resources. Kenya's Nairobi is attracting global companies because they don't have a problem hiring well trained professionals.

Kenyans proffesionals are dreaded by TZ gov - it cannot allow free labor competition! I know companies that routinely sneak in kenyans to TZ to fix stuff Tanzanians cannot fix.

And that is all because if Kenya has got everything wrong - it has got EDUCATION RIGHT - it invest hug

BRT was certainly not discovered in TZ - it a WB template ever since it was tried in Latin America.
Those are your words, no one said we discovered BRT, what we did was to study the cause of the problem and we came up with three solutions; light rails, elevated roads and BRT. The latter was found to be the best solution as it was cheaper and there was already enough space in the mediam to build one. World bank had nothing to do with that.
Anyway I think there is no point arguing the obvious. Kenya education system despite it problems is well regarded. Kenya this, Kenya that... you guys front too much (nothing to show). The fact that you went ahead and drew those red lines, calling them BRT (without first doing any ground work), tells a lot about your education system.

Our government spends a lot of money to educate us, it'd be a foolish idea to use all that money and not getting anything in return. We can't hire Kenyans while we have Tanzanians who are more than qualified to do the job.
