Nawaza kwamba mfumo wa Elimu ya msingi hapa Tanzania unashida.
Unahitaji marekebisho makubwa.

1. Naona kwamba ufumo huu una upungufu mkubwa katika matumizi ya Lugha.
Kuendelea kusisitiza matumizi makubwa ya Lugha ya KISWAHILI, naona ni kuwazuia wasomi wetu kuwa washindani wazuri kwenye viwango vya kimataifa.
Lugha ya Kiingereza ni pendekezo langu.
2. Elimu ya msingi imekuwa ya kinadharia zaidi.
Napendekeza elimu hii iwe ya vitendo zaidi ili kuzalisha wasomi wanaojua kuweka katika utendaji vile walivyojifunza.
3. Mfumo huu haumjengi mwanafunzi katika kiwango cha kuwa mbunifu.
Napendekeza masomo maalumu ya ubunifu yaingizwe katika mitaala husika.
4. Waalimu wa shule za msingi hawapewi msisitizo na msaada wa kujiendeleza kitaaluma.
Napendekeza uwepo mkakati wa makusudi wa kuwaendeleza waalimu wa shule za msingi kulingana na mabadiliko ya haraka ya kiteknolojia.

Mwalimu Nyerere alishatuwekea msingi wa nadharia itakayotumika katika elimu yetu. Tunaweza kutumia nadharia ya Elimu ya Kujitegemea kukiwa na marekebisho kufuatana na mapungufu tuliyoyaona wakati ule wa kutekeleza nadharia hiyo, pamoja na kuzingatia mabadiliko ya wakati wa sasa.
 
Mwalimu Nyerere alishatuwekea msingi wa nadharia itakayotumika katika elimu yetu. Tunaweza kutumia nadharia ya Elimu ya Kujitegemea kukiwa na marekebisho kufuatana na mapungufu tuliyoyaona wakati ule wa kutekeleza nadharia hiyo, pamoja na kuzingatia mabadiliko ya wakati wa sasa.

Mkuu, hapo ndipo nilipokuwa ninalenga. Tuangalie maana/dhana ya Elimu ya Kujitegemea na madhumuni yake, tuone ni vipi ilishindwa, na katika kushindwa huko ni vipi ambavyo tutaweza kubuni mfumo na utekelezaji mzuri wa elimu ya msingi ambayo itakuwa na manufaa kwa wanafunzi na taifa kwa ujumla.
 
Mkuu, hapo ndipo nilipokuwa ninalenga. Tuangalie maana/dhana ya Elimu ya Kujitegemea na madhumuni yake, tuone ni vipi ilishindwa, na katika kushindwa huko ni vipi ambavyo tutaweza kubuni mfumo na utekelezaji mzuri wa elimu ya msingi ambayo itakuwa na manufaa kwa wanafunzi na taifa kwa ujumla.

Hoja la kuhamisha elimu ya msingi kwenda lugha ya Kiingereza ni ajabu. Ni kweli ya kwamba matokeo ya mfumo wa elimu Tanzania ni mabaya. Sababu mbili muhimu ni: a) kubadilisha lugha kati ya shule ya msingi na sekondari b) hali duni ya elimu ya walimu pamoja na hali ya kifedha ya walimu na shule kwa jumla. (Je, bado pass mark iko chini ya 30%? Kichekesho hiki)

Ujuzi wangu ni mifumo ya elimu Ulaya na Afrika. Kote Ulaya elimu ilisogea mbele wakati wa karne ya 19 na 20 baada ya kutumia lugha za kienyeji badala ya lugha za kimataifa. Wakati ule hasa [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilatini"]Kilatini[/ame] na [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kifaransa"]Kifaransa[/ame] zilitumiwa kama lugha za elimu Ulaya, katika nchi kadhaa za Ulaya mashariki pia [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kijerumani"]Kijerumani[/ame]. Mfumo wa kuwafundisha watoto kwa lugha hizi za kigeni uliwaacha wengi nje lakini baada ya kutumia lugha za kitaifa idadi ya wasomi iliruka kabisa ikawa msingi wa kuruka mbele kiuchumi na kijamii pia.

Nchi ndogo kama [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ucheki"]Ucheki[/ame], [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slovakia"]Slovakia[/ame] au [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwei"]Norwei[/ame] zote zinawafundisha watoto wao kwa lugha za kitaifa ([ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kicheki"]Kicheki[/ame], [ame="http://sw.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kislovakia"]Kislovakia[/ame], Kinorwei) hadi ngazi ya sekondari na kwa jumla hata kwenye chuo kikuu ingawa kwenye ngazi ya chuo kikuu kuna pia kozi kwa Kiingereza. Lugha hizi ni ndogo idadi ya wasemaji haifiki milioni 5 na lugha zilikuzwa kwa matumizi ya elimu ya juu wakati wa karne ya 20 tu. Lugha zinaweza kukua hata Kiswahili kinaweza! Lakini swali ni: je kuna watu wanaotaka kweli wakiwa tayari kujitolea na kutumia lugha yao ya kila siku kwa habari za elimu pia?

Njia mbele ni kuwa na Kiswahili kama lugha ya mafundisho hata kwenye ngazi ya sekondari.

Ni mawazo mazuri sana, lakini yanakosa vivid evidences,
Fanya utafiti mdogo kati ya wanafunzi waliomaliza elimu ya msingi kati ya 1980's ,1990's na 2000's utagundua kuwa wote hao wana uelewa tofauti tena kubwa tu.
Pili tatizo siyo elimu ya nadharia, je hiyo elimu ya vitendo itafundishwa na nani hasa?
Cha msingi walimu wathaminiwe na kulipwa maslahi mazuri tutaanza kuona matunda mazuri ya watoto wetu.Pia walimu wasichululiwe wale wanafunzi waliofeli tu bali hata waliofaulu vizuri.

Hali hii haiwezi kubadilika kwa sababu watoto wa wakubwa hawamo humu na fedha ambazo zingetumika kununua madawati zimefisadiwa na wakubwa hao ambao watoto wao wanasoma majuu.

The UPE programme in Tanzania, which was actually built on the philosophy of​
“Ujamaa” (African Socialism)

and the Education for Self-Reliance (ESR)3 reforms, had a good chance of succeeding. The ESR philosophy had addressed some relevant novel ideas of relevance of education, egalitarianism, practicality and elimination of elitism. However, the fact that the UPE programme was accompanied by high and rapid growth in enrolment rates for a few years which later levelled off; and then fell need exploration so as to provide a contribution to the overall issue of Education for All; and, an agenda of the Government(s) and development communities/agencies.

“Ujamaa” (African Socialism) ideology dominated most of the 1967 – 1985 era of the late
Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere. The highlight of this era was the nationalization of production and
provision of goods and services by the state and the dominance of the ruling party in community mobilization and participation.

Education for Self Reliance (ESR) reform and philosophy authored by Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere
gave a thorough critique of the education system inherited from the colonial state by showing that it was elitist (for the few), theoretical and bookish (not integrated with production) and alienating (divorcing the recipients of it from his/her African society in general).

In 2002 a young lady, Gemma Rice (now Gemma Sisia), from a sheep farm in Australia, opened a small school in Northern Tanzania with the help of her family, friends and local Rotary Club. What started with only a handful of children and one teacher is now a thriving school of 1151 children, 130 teachers and 200 staff. In January 2008 another free primary school with an initial enrollment of over 550 children opened. These schools really have the potential to influence the quality of Tanzania's future leaders.
Over 90% of the children at the school receive a totally free education as local and international sponsors individually cover the costs of not only the educational fees but also the uniform, stationery, transport, hot meal, snacks and drinks of each child. What makes this school even more special is the fact that this success comes about due to the group effort of thousands of ordinary people from all over the world coming together to do something quite extraordinary. Individuals, families, schools, church groups and service clubs are joining forces by supporting the school's various sponsorship programs.

Every day staff and students work hard to fulfil the school's philosophy of "Fighting Poverty through Education" helping our students break the cycle of poverty that has gripped their families for generations. If this is what such a team effort can achieve in six short years, then imagine what could be achieved in ten years!

Sasa huo ni mfano mmojawapo wa msingi mbovu. Mazingira ya kusomea mazuri ni mojawapo ya vigezo vya kuweka msingi mzuri wa elimu.
 
Nilikuwa naongelea kuhusu ile picha ya wale wanafunzi walioketi chini. Huyu mdada wa Australia anahitaji kuigwa na apewe hongera.
