Uchunguzi kuhusu nyimbo ya taifa kugoma unaendelea Friday, 04 February 2011 20:50

Sweetbert Lukonge

Timbe ataka mshikamano Yanga

Given United could set a club record of 30 league games unbeaten, stretching back to last season, at bottom club Wolves on Saturday evening, it would not seem to be an unreasonable goal.
Ferguson said: "Consistency is the key and over the last two months it has been very good. Consistency is the thing that gives you the extra yard or extra belief.
"They trust each other. You have to trust each other. They can look around the dressing room and we have some battled-hardened professionals who have been through the course many many times.
"We are going to find that in the run-in there are going to be some interesting games for Manchester United. We have a little lead but that can vanish overnight.
"Manchester City are in a challenging position in that top four. . Chelsea, Arsenal, ourselves and Tottenham, we are all in there battling.
"Our job is to retain that consistency and relish what we are going to experience. This is a great time to play football knowing you have an opportunity to win the league."
Ferguson expects a rough ride from Mick McCarthy's Wolves, who only lost to Bolton after a late Daniel Sturridge goal.
"Mick McCarthy by his nature is a fighter and his team are fighters so we expect a tough game, " said the United boss.

"I watched them against Bolton and I felt for Mick, I really did. It was devastating to lose that goal the way they did in the last minute of the game."
Meanwhile Ferguson wants Gary Neville to stay at Old Trafford in a coaching role, now the England defender has retired.
Ferguson said: "Gary has been a terrific example to all the young players here. At times he has helped these young players with their contracts.
"Time and again he has been prepared to fight their corner and make sure they get the right deal.
"We should have that presence and coaching ability Gary has at the Academy. I do think he has a role to play as a coach, I really do, particularly with the young players.
"He is taking his badges. He is ready to go into coaching and we will just find a role for him. We want him to stay."

Central defender Robert Huth scored two goals in the last eight minutes to give Stoke a 3-2 Premier League win over Sunderland, which had led for more than an hour of the match.
Kieran Richardson had put Sunderland ahead in the second minute and, although John Carew equalized 30 minutes later, Asamoah Gyan's ninth goal of the season put the visitors 2-1 up early in the second half.
But Huth equalized from close range in the 83rd seven minutes and then slid in to touch in an injury-time free kick to put Stoke ahead for the first time in the match.

Torres: Reds duo broke promises

Updated Feb 5, 2011 8:13 AM ET
Fernando Torres has pinned the blame for his departure from Liverpool squarely on the shoulders of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Torres claims the club's ousted owners are responsible for what was their worst start to a league season for more than half a century following "two years" of broken promises at Anfield.
TURNING POINT

Jamie Trecker presents his five keys to victory as Chelsea and Liverpool meet in the 'Game before the Game' this Sunday with coverage starting at 10 a.m. ET on FSC.

The striker believes the new regime at Liverpool is on the right track to revive their fortunes but admits he was not prepared to hang around and wait for the Reds to become major contenders for trophies once again.
Entering his peak years, the 26-year-old decided to join last season's double winners Chelsea, who he is confident are already equipped to challenge for the game's top prizes.
Expressing his discontent about Liverpool's "old owners", Torres added: "I think when the new owner, John Henry, came and brought his team with him, the club was moving in the right direction.
"They have ambition and they know how to do things and go back to the way they were.
"It is my opinion, though, that they need time for that. Maybe they will need the time while I'm at my best age to play football.
"I explained my situation, my feelings, and was honest with everyone.
"I told everyone, face to face, my feelings and that I wanted to leave for Chelsea.
"They didn't hear that in the press. They heard it from me. That was maybe 10 or 12 days before the window closed."
Explaining why he chose Chelsea, Torres said: "When you have a chance of playing for a team in the Champions League, who have a chance to win the Champions League, and if you are the right age to do that and compete with the best, you have to do that."
Torres' desire to leave Anfield angered some Liverpool fans, who had welcomed him as one of their own from the moment he arrived.
While still an Atletico Madrid player, he had 'You'll Never Walk Alone' stitched into his captain's armband.
But he insists the only club he has ever supported is Atletico.
He said: "When you are joining a club, you want to do the best for yourself and that club, and that's all. Some people like to kiss the badge. They can do it.
"I only want to score goals and do my job, and achieve all the targets the team has.
"I was not a Liverpool fan or a Chelsea fan in Madrid. I was an Atletico fan. I still am.

"Maybe they're the only badge I will kiss."
Some Reds fans burnt Torres replica shirts when his departure was becoming inevitable, while he has been criticised by some former players.
"I think 'traitor' makes no sense," he said.
"I played three very good seasons there, left massive money there, lots of goals, good performances.
"I'm very happy with everything I did there."
Torres insists it did not even enter his mind to ask to sit out tomorrow's Barclays Premier League clash with his former club, although he has vowed not to celebrate if he scores.
He added: "Maybe it's too soon to ask for a good reception. I'm not expecting that. But it would be a surprise for me if I get a very bad reception."
The arrival of Torres and David Luiz for a combined £75million has sparked reports Chelsea may sell the likes of Didier Drogba and Florent Malouda this summer.
But manager Carlo Ancelotti said: "We don't want to sell.
"We don't need to sell players."

Harry rues Van Bommel snub

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp regrets his decision to turn down the chance to sign Holland midfielder Mark van Bommel last month.
TRANSFER SPECIAL

Keep up with all the biggest moves around the globe with our 2011 January transfer gallery.

Tottenham were offered Van Bommel in the January transfer window when Bayern Munich decided to allow the 33-year-old to leave six months before his contract expired.
But the World Cup finalist, who also attracted interest from Liverpool, opted instead to join AC Milan on a five-month deal as Redknapp mulled over whether signing the 33-year-old would be worthwhile.
Tom Huddlestone's setback in his return from an ankle injury has left the Spurs boss with Jermaine Jenas and the erratic Wilson Palacios to choose from to protect his back four.
He believes that Van Bommel could have added an extra layer of steel to his squad towards the end of the season and admits he is considering an approach for the physical former Barcelona man when his contract at Milan ends this summer.
"I could have took Van Bommel, it was probably a mistake - perhaps I should have taken him," Redknapp said.
"It was a difficult one and I dragged my heels with it. I took my time over it, too long and we didn't do it in the end.
"He would have been a good player for us. Tom has had a setback and Van Bommel was on a free, he has signed a five-month contract at AC Milan.
"He gives you experience, he's been there, played Champions League final, World Cup final. He is a proper player for sure but that's how it goes.
"We could go back for him."
Redknapp was only able to land Steven Pienaar and Bongani Khumalo in what was originally expected to be a busy transfer window for the club.
Chairman Daniel Levy made club record bids for Sergio Aguero and Giuseppe Rossi but neither deal went through and Redknapp watched on as rivals Chelsea spent £50million on Fernando Torres and Manchester City splashed £27million on Edin Dzeko.
Redknapp admits he was surprised at the fees that changed hands last month, but insists that Tottenham can keep up with their big-spending competitors in the market.
"I had a look at Dzeko last year and they were talking £50million and that was too dear, then suddenly he looks cheap at £27million," Redknapp said.
"Ronaldo doesn't look dear at £70million when you look now. How much is Messi worth I wonder? He's got to be worth £1billion.
"I think we can compete though. We have good players here - Gareth Bale is a £50million player. If you can find them they are out there."

Redknapp believes that an unfortunate consequence of the money flooding the British transfer market is that the five clubs in contention for the Champions League will not do business with each other.
"Man City won't sell us a player," Redknapp said.
"We didn't bid for (Emmanuel) Adebayor because we knew it would be a waste of time."
Redknapp takes Tottenham to Bolton tomorrow knowing that a win will draw his side level with fourth-placed Chelsea, who play Liverpool on Sunday.
With almost two thirds of the season complete, Tottenham sit 13 points behind leaders Manchester United and eight behind their main challengers Arsenal.
A 4-0 hammering at Fulham in the FA Cup last week led some to question Tottenham's ability to make it into the top four again but after losing just once in their last 13 league fixtures, Redknapp insists his side can stay the course and are even good enough to finish third.
"We won't finish above Man Utd. If I had to pick one team who might have a chance of catching them I would go with Chelsea," Redknapp said.
"We have a chance to finish above the others.
"It's quite open. City are a good side but it's not impossible, and it's not impossible to finish above Arsenal.
"The belief is there. We have lost one league game since god knows when, at Everton. We can write the cup off, we had a horrific first 10 minutes at Fulham."
Redknapp has also revealed that Spurs have started talks with William Gallas' about renewing his contract beyond the end of the season.
He said: "I think it probably will get done.
"William wants to stay and he has been outstanding."

Tevez: City lack consistency

Roberto Mancini's side were defeated at Aston Villa before being held to a draw at Birmingham, leaving the club eight points behind leaders Manchester United.
Tevez told The Sun: "I'm not happy with the last scores. If we want to fight for the title it is impossible to fail in matches against Aston Villa and Birmingham.
"To obtain only one point out of six is to concede too much advantage to rivals in the championship race.
"I have the experience in this aspect with Manchester United and these really are the type of matches where success is the key for the league.
"For us not to have triumphed gives others a big advantage.
"Consistency is the key to becoming champions and now this is our problem.
"There are still many points left but to give an eight, nine or 10 point advantage to United is to say goodbye to our chances."
City take on West Brom at Eastlands on Saturday before their Old Trafford showdown against arch-rivals United next weekend.
Tevez added: "From this weekend it is impossible to fail. We've left ourselves very little room for error and have reduced our hopes of the title"

The Frenchman joined Spurs on a one-year contract in August after failing to agree a new deal at the club's fierce rivals Arsenal.
Gallas has impressed during his time at White Hart Lane and has made 21 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Spurs boss Redknapp has confirmed talks have started over an extension for the 33-year-old and is optimistic Gallas will be part of his plans next season.
"I think it probably will get done," said Redknapp.
"William wants to stay and he has been outstanding."
Meanwhile, Redknapp accepts Spurs are no longer realistically in the Premier League title race, but feels second place is not beyond his team's reach.
He added: "We won't finish above Man United. If I had to pick one team who might have a chance of catching them I would go with Chelsea.
"We have a chance to finish above the others. It's quite open.
"City are a good side, but it's not impossible and it's not impossible to finish above Arsenal. The belief is there."

Moyes hits back in Fabregas row

Everton manager David Moyes has hit back at Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger in a row over the conduct of Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas.
Wenger said "it is wrong for Moyes to come out on what he pretends to have heard in the tunnel" after the Everton boss claimed Fabregas made "disgusting" comments towards officials this week.

The Spaniard was alleged to have approached the fourth official at half-time during Arsenal's 2-1 win over Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday to complain about the visitors' goal.
Arsenal were angry Louis Saha had not been flagged offside before opening the scoring in the Premier League clash.
Moyes said: "I have to defend the integrity of Everton and David Moyes as well. "I think it has been said I didn't see it or I didn't hear it.
"Well I was there and I saw it and I heard it. "
Cesc questioned Everton's integrity by suggesting we possibly had given money to the referee. "In doing that he also questioned the integrity of the referees.
"If I had said that or any other player had said that I think that would have warranted a sending off. "I think Arsene said there was an unwritten rule that you don't say things which are in the tunnel.
"Well his player was the one who broke the unwritten rule. "Because what he did was question Everton football club, that we may be paying officials."
Wenger has defended his player and said that only he spoke to referee Lee Mason at half-time. Moyes however has confirmed that he thought Fabregas was speaking to fourth official Kevin Wright.
He said: "Cesc never swore once. He was very calm, very calculated. It wasn't a rant or a rave like I've heard a lot people saying.

"It was just straight to the point and I thought it was out of order and he deserved to be sent off.
"I thought if I said that to the fourth official - who he did direct it to - I would have been sent off and the FA would be involved and probably fining me £8,000 again."
Mason made no mention of any half-time incidents in his report and the Football Association will not be investigating.
Moyes added: "We have no intention of getting the FA involved.
"If the FA ask for information I won't give them it. That doesn't get me three points back.
"In truth I wouldn't have even brought it up or mentioned it again if it wasn't that it looks like Arsene seems to think I have not seen or heard it."
Defeat at Arsenal has left Everton just three points above the relegation zone and still struggling to build momentum. The Merseysiders have won just two of their last 14 Premier League games and are anxious to put that right as out-of-form Blackpool visit Goodison Park tomorrow.
Ian Holloway's promoted Seasiders are a point and two places better off than Everton but have experienced a reality check in recent weeks, losing on six of their last seven league outings.
Moyes said: "Ian's doing a brilliant job. There are other managers doing great jobs but Ollie is certainly doing very well.
"I think people like them because of their attacking style.
"I think they make lots of opportunities, they give you opportunities and that makes the games open.
"If you take your chances you can get in front but if they take their they can be a handful. They have attacking options and some good players."
Everton did not make any major signings during the January transfer window due to a lack of funds, not even managing to bring in loan players.
But they can at least welcome back top scorer Tim Cahill tomorrow after a month away with Australia at the Asian Cup. The 31-year-old scored nine times before joining up with his international colleagues after the Christmas programme, still four more than any other player.
Moyes said: "It's great to have him back. He's a big player for us and scores important goals."

Harry Redknapp has hinted he could attempt to bring David Beckham to Tottenham when his Los Angeles Galaxy contract expires in December.
Beckham has been training with Spurs in recent weeks but the two clubs were unable to agree a short-term loan deal for the former England captain.

TRANSFER SPECIAL

Keep up with all the biggest moves around the globe with our 2011 January transfer gallery.

The veteran midfielder is expected to head back across the Atlantic to rejoin Galaxy next week, but that does not spell the end of Redknapp's interest in the talented wideman.
And the White Hart Lane boss revealed that Beckham has been producing passes in training on a par with Rafael van der Vaart's sublime effort to pick out Peter Crouch in the 1-0 win over Blackburn on Wednesday, seemingly at will.
When asked about a future approach, Redknapp said: "I could do, yeah. I love him, I love the way he plays. That ball that Van der Vaart hit for Crouchy, David hit about seven of them the other morning in training.
"It was like he had radar and Crouchy kept heading them in the goal. I kept saying 'That's what I have been asking you to do lads'.
"David has been fantastic. He is a top-class bloke. He has been great around the place. You would love to have him at your club."

Redknapp was quick to pay tribute to the determination and work ethic of the 35-year-old during his stint with the north London club and remains disappointed he was not able to turn out in a Spurs shirt.
He said: "I think David will go back on the ninth (of February). I would like to have had him playing as he has looked great in training.
"He is so slim and so fit, he is a fanatical trainer. He works in the morning and the afternoon in the gym. He just loves playing football.
"He could be at home now sitting around the pool. I am sure he has a decent enough semi in Los Angeles but he is over here wanting to play football. Most footballers would want to be in Los Angeles.
"But that is what has made him what he is. He wants to keep playing and he is a mega rich man. He just loves the game."

Theiry Henry comes back to Arsenal for traiing in dead of English winter, traing facilities aren't good enough in NY? No, it's all about the camaraderie and quality of those around you that keep your motivation and strength up. I think Henry has provided some good vibes for Wilshire & Walcott based on recent form but Gibbs not so sure yet.

The larger point of future England glory will fall on the heads of the new kids NOT Becks so who from within is leading that parade? All it takes is a little spark and I think Becks would like to serve up that initial strike. Besides, every top athlete needs a challenge to keep their level of competition up.

"Crouchy" ? hahahhaha OK,british colloquialism is not Nappyy's forte. but trying to inspire youngers players and giving them a practical sense of what to stive for on the pitch while in training is what Harry needs. I belive Becks can inspire but for some reason it doesn't rub off much w/ Galaxy, however if the point about what leadership and dedication to the game is at the heart of a true footballer then Becks should be a model of class and consistency in any league. Perhaps Becks wants the same longevity of ex ManU mates Giggs & VanDeSar.

vtheman, I would disagree that Becks is England's only hope. They have a lot of quality young players and will continue to challenge. Wilshere, Walcott, Micah Richards, Keran Gibbs, Joe Hart and Conor Wickham are all very promising young English stars that were not involved in South Africa.

the debate can rage over beckhams ability at 35 and the legitimacy of his career because of his ability to sell merchandise; but all must take note that Beckham has more class than any footballer around. You wont find him at the Mayfair Hotel plowing 17 year old girls, you wont see him skipping training sessions for whatever, and he continues to prove his quality by working hard.
what footballer would give up vacation to train? He knows he's almost done and thats why hes working so hard. He's proving that he actually is a great man, leader and footballer. He IS the example footballer/football role model. Besides, in a sea of washed up over paid chavs he is England's only hope for YEARS to come

It is still premature to expect team Beckham to show up in Dallas or KC in March and April. What professional would want to be there?

Great Idea Harry. Its too bad you couldn't spring for some coin and do it permanent this winter (which I'm pretty sure was an option given you by Arena). Now the 50M man will go back to spurs a free transfer, nice.

Why does it seem like Redknapp is chasing a 35 year old has-been who as far as i'm concerned would struggle to make Spurs starting 11? Except of course, Beckham is needed for his image and to sell some shirts. After all, isn't that what he has done all his career?

Yo Arry - Maybe if you focused al lthis time on a striker solution instead of a 35 year old MF who currently plays in the MLS, we could have landed a stiker in the transfer window.....

Time to move forward........Not too mention, Maybe put some time on your calendar to optimize our starting 11 (per our opponent) & have a few plans around a few tactical adjustments.....

    Gracias. .
