Ian Holloway saw Blackpool end a run of five straight defeats with a stirring display in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa at Bloomfield Road.
When Gabriel Agbonlahor opened the scoring for Villa after 10 minutes of Saturday's Premier League clash, it could have opened the floodgates.

Instead Blackpool regrouped quickly and equalised four minutes later thanks to Elliot Grandin.
Villa were reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when Jean Makoun was given a straight red card after a challenge on DJ Campbell.
But they had lacked drive before then and that must be a concern to manager Gerard Houllier.
Villa were as poor in the second half as they were bright in the first half. Darren Bent had sight of goal inside the first minute after Agbonlahor picked him out but his effort was blocked.
Blackpool again found themselves on the back foot moments later when Ashley Young released Stuart Downing but his cross was scrambled away.
Villa made the breakthrough in the 10th minute following a swift counter attack that left the home side exposed.
Bent laid the ball off to Agbonlahor and he showed a blistering turn of pace before going around Richard Kingson and firing a shot into the corner.
However not for the first time this time this season Holloway's side stormed back and equalised in the 14th minute.
Grandin got a vital touch at the near post after Villa failed to deal with a corner from Charlie Adam.
Two minutes later Luke Varney should have put Blackpool ahead only to head wide from six yards following a cross from Marlon Harewood.
Play switched back down the other end and Stewart Downing came close to regaining the lead for the visitors in the 30th minute.
The former Middlesbrough winger carved out an opening for himself on the edge of the area only to see his curler come back off the outside of the post.
Bent, however, was not getting things all his own way at this stage but the England striker was happy to track back if needed.
Blackpool hit back in the 54th minute and almost took the lead with Adam at the heart of the move.
The Scotland midfielder released Varney on the left wing and he skipped to the byline before delivering the cross.
Campbell got on the end of it at the near post but clipped his effort wide of the target when it seemed easier to score.

Houllier then decided to freshen things up in attack with Emile Heskey replacing Bent in the 57th minute.
Blackpool were growing in confidence and Adam swung in a free-kick six minutes later but Villa managed to scramble the ball to safety.
Then Varney laid the ball into the path of Harewood on the edge of the area. However he blazed a shot high over the bar before Puncheon sent his effort wide.
Villa were then reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when Makoun was sent off for a challenge on Campbell.
Adam was pulling the strings in the middle of the park and released substitute Matt Phillips with a glorious ball in the 80th minute.
Phillips got a good touch but then then found himself crowded out as he attempted to get in a shot.
Back came Villa and Young had an appeal for penalty turned down in stoppage time after he went to ground following Ian Evatt's challenge before scuffing a shot wide.

Niko Kranjcar produced another spectacular strike to fire Tottenham back into the Premier League's top four with a 2-1 victory at Sunderland.
The Croatia international, whose stunning goal saw off Bolton last weekend, blasted home a 57th-minute volley to claim all three points as Spurs came from behind to win on Wearside.

A crowd of 40,986 saw the Black Cats take an 11th-minute lead when record signing Asamoah Gyan claimed his 10th goal of the season.
But the visitors levelled a minute before the break through Michael Dawson's header as they recovered from a poor start, and Kranjcar completed the job as they turned in a much better second-half display.
The win, which improved Tottenham's run to just one defeat in 15 league outings, lifted them above Chelsea, who do not play until Monday evening.
It also denied Sunderland the chance to reclaim sixth spot from Liverpool, who had drawn with Wigan earlier in the day.
The defeat was a third in succession for Steve Bruce's men, which they have not suffered previously in the league during his reign.
Tottenham arrived on Wearside with one eye on Tuesday's Champions League trip to AC Milan, and started as if they had as Sunderland took control.
The home side did not need long to get their noses in front, as Gyan turned expertly on Kieran Richardson's driven cross and smashed a right-footed shot past Heurelho Gomes.
That was just the platform the home side needed after successive league defeats by Chelsea and Stoke, and they looked capable of adding to their tally as Sulley Muntari protected the back four to allow Richardson, Stephane Sessegnon, Steed Malbranque and Jordan Henderson to provide the support to lone striker Gyan.
Benin international Sessegnon warmed Gomes' hands with a 14th-minute strike from long distance, and with Spurs misfiring alarmingly, there seemed little prospect of Sunderland surrendering their advantage.
Without the injured Rafael van der Vaart, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon, the latter who was named only among the substitutes, the visitors lacked real penetration.
And with the exception of the lively Kranjcar, Tottenham resorted to lumping a series of high balls in the general direction of Roman Pavlyuchenko, to little effect.
Kranjcar fired into the sidenetting from a 22nd-minute half-chance, and manager Harry Redknapp was rapidly losing patience on the sideline.
Spurs belatedly established a momentum late in the half and might have been level had the again impressive John Mensah not got to Benoit Assou-Ekotto's cross marginally in front of Jermain Defoe.
But they did equalise from the resulting corner when Dawson met Steven Pienaar's cross with a firm downward header, and with central defensive partner William Gallas partially blocking his view, goalkeeper Craig Gordon let the ball go between his legs.

The second half began with a flurry of activity as both sides created chances.
Full-back Phil Bardsley managed to clear Gallas' close-range effort off the line, and Gomes had to save from Malbranque and Sessegnon in quick succession at the other end.
But the third goal duly arrived, and when it did, it gave Spurs the lead for the first time.
Mensah got up well to head out Sandro's right-wing cross, but the Ghana international could only clear the ball as far as Kranjcar, who thumped a sweet volley into the bottom left corner.
Sandro got in a last-ditch block to deny Sessegnon a 59th-minute equaliser after Muntari had picked him out with a deep free-kick, but Pienaar fired just over from distance at the other end seconds later.
Muntari whistled a long-range effort just wide with 20 minutes remaining and Pavlyuchenko wasted good work by Jermaine Jenas by shooting weakly at Gordon two minutes later.
Richardson clipped the top of the crossbar with a deflected 79th-minute shot as the home side threw everything they had at Spurs.
Substitute Boudewijn Zenden drilled a late free-kick into the defensive wall as their cause became increasingly desperate, and Redknapp moved to shore up his midfield three minutes from time when he withdrew striker Defoe and sent on Wilson Palacios.
In the event, the Londoners saw out the game in relative comfort to send them on their way to Italy with a hard-fought win behind them.

Blues' Luiz has burning ambition

Chelsea new boy David Luiz has revealed he is driven to succeed by a promise made to his parents when he was just 14 years old.
The £25million January signing told his family that he would get to the very top of his game after persuading his mother to pay for the air fare to get him out of Sao Paolo and kickstart his career.

Since then Luiz has delivered on his oath, establishing himself as one of Europe's most talented central defenders with Benfica, earning a dream move to the Premier League and representing Brazil at international level.
"My parents worked every day to give the best life to me and sister," he said.
"That is why I am eternally thankful to my parents and I want to honour them for as long as I can.
"At 14 I moved out to start in football, 36 hours away from home. I told them I would come back home when I could offer them the life they deserve.
"Thank God I managed to do that, to give them a better life and more stability. I also promised my mother I would pay her back the air fare!"
David is not the only gifted member of the Luiz family, though.
His father Ladislao was also a promising youngster and played for Atletico Mineiro as a striker.
At the time the wages offered in the Brazilian top flight were not enough to sustain his family and he quit at the age of 20 before pursuing a career in teaching.
Luiz said: "My dad is my hero. He played until he was 20 but he had to stop to support the family with work. He told me he left the dream he was meant to lead to me."

Luiz spoke at his unveiling with the aid of an interpreter and, with fellow Portuguese speakers Ramires, Alex and Jose Bosingwa already at Chelsea, there is no rush to add English to his list of skills.
But the player, who will get his first Chelsea start at Fulham on Monday night, is used to being a vocal presence at the back and has vowed to get up to speed quickly.
"The biggest difference is the language barrier so I will do my best to learn English as soon as possible," he said.
"I am a communicator on the pitch. It is important to pass messages not just with your feet but in what you say."
