Manjia ajiweka pembeni Yanga

Makinda aipeleka Simba bungeni Tuesday, 15 February 2011 07:49

Fredy Azzah

Chelsea hero Petr Cech conceded the 0-0 draw at Fulham was probably not enough to save the Blues' Premier League title defence.
Cech guessed correctly to parry Clint Dempsey's 93rd-minute spot-kick after another game to forget for new £50million Blues striker Fernando Torres.

Torres missed four chances either side of half-time as champions Chelsea failed to climb back into the top four, 12 points off leaders Manchester United.
"We were chasing the game and tried to get the winning goal," Cech told Sky Sports 1.
"I think in the last few minutes the game was absolutely broken. It was up-and-down stuff and anybody could have got a goal. So in the end we're happy to go with the point because when you concede a penalty in the last minute, anything can happen.
"I think it was a good performance, very solid, it's just a pity that in the final third we missed a bit to score."
However, the goalkeeper admitted: "For the title, this point is too little. Mathematically it's not over, but obviously we are quite far (off) now because they (our rivals) won their games and we lost two points tonight. But there is a long way to go."
Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti concurred with Cech about his side's title defence. "It's very difficult," he said. "Obviously we have to try to do our best, game-by-game. We played a good game tonight and deserved to win.
"This is football."
Ancelotti defended Torres' performance.
He told Sky Sports 1: "I think he has to work with the team, he has the chance. He has to know our kind of play, I think his performance for 60 minutes was good. He had two opportunities to score and was not lucky.
"He was better compared to his last performance against Liverpool."

I agree with Petr. The title is all, but conceded. With this miserable on-goal shooting efficiency (12 %) it would be a wonder for the team to pass the next rounds in FA Cup and CL. I am amazed how CA has the face to say that they played well. The strikers cannot stop a simple pass without the ball bouncing two yards away. The see a Chelsea player dribble between even two opposition players will remain a dream with the current squad. Maybe he means that saluting the supporters is the essential element of good play.

Carra: Kenny has galvanised Reds

Jamie Carragher admits he was worried about Liverpool's future - but feels the mood at Anfield has been transformed by Kenny Dalglish's return.
Dalglish began a second spell as manager last month after the departure of Roy Hodgson, who endured a miserable six months at the helm.

Under Dalglish, the Reds have lifted themselves back into European contention with a six-game unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League.
When asked if he was genuinely concerned, Carragher told talkSPORT: "Every day! To be honest, it's been like that for a little while.
"Stevie [Gerrard] and I are so involved emotionally, sometimes too much, and it affects your whole life, and the last 18 months have been really tough.
"We've not been doing too well and the fans are your friends and family and it takes its toll.
"So it's great that the pressure has lessened off and people are starting talking about the top four.
"Dalglish's presence and who he is has galvanised the whole club - players and supporters. I don't need to tell you what he means to the club and the fans."
Liverpool are now sixth in the table and Carragher believes the club can look forward to a positive future under new owners Fenway Sports Group, who replaced the unpopular George Gillett and Tom Hicks.

The 33-year-old defender, recently returned from a shoulder injury, added: "Of course we still have to improve on the pitch and that's something the manager will look to do in the summer.
"The supporters are a lot more onside and when we're all together - players and fans - as I've known for a long time, it can be pretty unstoppable at times and that's something we've probably not had for 18 months or so."
Liverpool's squad has also undergone major change in the past fortnight following Fernando Torres' shock £50million move to Chelsea and the arrivals of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.
Carragher said: "I'd have loved him [Torres] to stay and I wish he would have given us to the end of the season.
"For two or three years for us he's been the best striker in the world.
"The disappointing thing is the timing of it but the start of the season hasn't gone well.
"I think it was something we were expecting either now or maybe in the summer.
"It's happened, good luck to him there and I'm pleased with who we've brought in. We've got to look to the future."

Tamasha la Taswa kufanyika mwezi ujao Send to a friend Tuesday, 15 February 2011 07:47 0diggsdigg

Strike pairing excites Aurelio

Fabio Aurelio is looking forward to seeing Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez link up in a much-anticipated attacking partnership at Liverpool.
Carroll, a £35million record signing from Newcastle, is yet to make his debut for the Reds as he continues his recovery from a thigh problem, but Suarez has already impressed on Merseyside.

After finding the back of the net on his first outing for the Premier League club against Stoke, the former Ajax hitman was unlucky not to score again in an encouraging display against Wigan at the weekend, hitting both the post and the bar in the 1-1 draw.
And Brazilian Aurelio expects Uruguay international Suarez to forge a formidable front-line with Carroll when the 22-year-old returns to fitness.
"Luis made his first full start for Liverpool and he had a great game," Aurelio told the Liverpool Echo.
"He looked very sharp and dangerous up front. For us, he'll be very important to have this type of player.
"People are looking forward to seeing Andy Carroll and Luis up front.
"Andy is good on the ball as well, he will be good to keep hold of the ball when we want to get closer to the opponents' goal.
"He will form a very important partnership with Suarez, they are different players and I'm sure they will match together very well."

TRANSFER SPECIAL

Keep up with all the biggest moves around the globe with our 2011 January transfer gallery.

Liverpool were held by strugglers Wigan after Steve Gohouri's second-half strike cancelled out a Raul Meireles' opener, which marked his fifth goal in six games.
Versatile Aurelio, who can play as a left-back or a left-sided midfielder, admits it was disappointing to lose out on two crucial points as sixth-placed Liverpool look to close the gap on nearest rivals Chelsea and Tottenham.
"Of course we are disappointed," he said. "Looking back at the first half, we were (playing) much better when we scored.
"We were passing the ball well, moving and creating space. We were doing very well.
"The team was secure at the back. We tried to change it a little bit in the second half and not leave them too much time on the ball, to press better.
"But we couldn't get as many chances as we did in the first half."
Saturday's result marked the end of a four-match winning run under manager Kenny Dalglish but despite the disappointment Aurelio insists the Reds can take positives from the clash.
"We need to be happy with the effort of everyone and the performance of the team showed we are still secure," he added.
"We are still improving and although it wasn't the result we were expecting, I think we still need to look forward."

Arsenal, Barcelona zageuka gumzo Ligi ya Mabingwa Send to a friend Tuesday, 15 February 2011 07:47 0diggsdigg

LONDON, Uingereza

Wanao wakali watatu, Robinho, (Alexandre) Pato, (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic.

Watatu watajwa kurithi glovu za Van der Sar Send to a friend Tuesday, 15 February 2011 07:46 0diggsdigg

LONDON, Uingereza

Pierre Webo's early goal led Mallorca to a 1-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league on Monday.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

Emilio N'Sue dribbled free past his marker deep in Bilbao's half before finding Webo inside the box to guide home the 11th-minute winner.
Mallorca ended a run of six losses in nine matches to join Getafe, Sevilla and Real Sociedad in seventh place on 31 points, one more than Atletico Madrid.
Athletic Bilbao, which was unbeaten in five games coming into the match, stayed fifth, seven points behind fourth-place Villarreal.
On Sunday, 10-man Real Madrid beat Espanyol 1-0 to move within five points of leader Barcelona, which drew 1-1 at Sporting Gijon a day earlier.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has backed referee Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz for his crusade against 'swimming pool artists' (divers).
Mourinho says his side's 1-0 win with 10 men at Espanyol on Sunday night was fully deserved and supported Mateu Lahoz despite the official's controversial second-minute dismissal of Iker Casillas at Cornella.

Scores | Fixtures | Table | Stats Scores | Fixtures | Table | Stats Scores | Fixtures | Table | Stats Scores | Fixtures | Table | Stats Scores | Fixtures | Table | Stats Scores | Fixtures | Table | Stats

Casillas saw red after just 90 seconds for a foul on Jose Callejon just outside his area, but contact was minimal and the decision looked extremely harsh.
Mourinho was forced to hand a league debut to third-choice keeper Adan and Madrid were made to work hard to win all three points.
They did so thanks to a Marcelo strike midway through the first half and it would have been easier for the visitors had Emmanuel Adebayor not squandered three glorious chances.
Nevertheless, Mourinho was delighted with his side's effort, which saw them move to within five points of league leaders Barcelona with 15 games remaining.
"We worked hard and played well against a very, very good team," he said after the game.
"Espanyol are a strong side and they are very difficult to beat, even with 11.
"Many people watching on television would have been expecting us to lose after seeing Casillas get sent off, but we won, we deserved to win and we could have won by a bigger scoreline."
Despite the controversial decision to send off Casillas, which left his team in extremis at one of the league's most difficult away venues and with 88 minutes still to play, Mourinho praised referee Mateu Lahoz.
"I don't know if it was a red card or not - I haven't seen it," he said.
"But I like Mateu - he is a great referee and he lets the game flow.
"Referees can make mistakes, but I still maintain he is a great referee."
Earlier on this season, Mourinho claimed he wished Mateu Lahoz could officiate all of Madrid's games.
"I stand by that," he said.
"I like him because he doesn't have any time for swimming pool artists and in my team there are no swimming pool artists."
Madrid lost 5-0 at the Nou Camp in their last visit to Barcelona and had trailed Pep Guardiola's side by seven points coming into this weekend's fixtures.
However, tonight's gritty victory saw Mourinho's side close to within five points of Barca after the league leaders were held to a 1-1 draw at Sporting Gijon last night.
"Real Madrid never stop fighting and we never don't forget the values we are defending," sporting director Jorge Valdano said after the match.
"We are going to fight to win all of the competitions - we're prepared for that because the mood is good."
And Marcelo, whose goal proved enough to secure victory for Madrid, paid tribute to his side's collective effort in adverse situations.
"It was a massive effort from the team and the win is deserved," he said.
"We're working hard, training hard, and prepared to battle for the league."
Meanwhile, Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino was philosophical in defeat.
"We looked like we would have a good chance to win the match after Casillas was sent off, but we found it difficult in the first half and although we improved in the second half, it wasn't enough in the end," he said.
"But I'm happy with my players and we'll take the positives from this into our next match."

Real Madrid general manager Jorge Valdano has insisted they have not lodged a bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas has long been linked with a return to Spain with both Barcelona and Madrid, and recent media speculation has been of a possible 60million euro summer swoop by Madrid for the Gunners captain.

TRANSFER SPECIAL

Keep up with all the biggest moves around the globe with our 2011 January transfer gallery.

Valdano denies they have made an offer for the 23-year-old Spain international, though, saying: "We've not made any move for Cesc. We've not made an offer or entered into talks.
"We have a good relationship with Arsenal and we don't want any misunderstandings."
Speaking to Canal+ following Madrid's 1-0 Primera Division win over Espanyol, Valdano also spoke about centre-back Pepe's contract situation.
Pepe's existing deal is due to run out in 2012 and there has been speculation the Portugal international, 27, might be on his way out of the club with the two parties yet to agree a new deal.
Valdano said: "He has shown he is a great player. We are making progress in the negotiations and we hope to reach a solution.
"Last season these questions were about (Gonzalo) Higuain and in the end we resolved them. He's an important player and so we are making an important effort."
When he was asked about the situation, Pepe said: "I'm not going to talk about this issue. At the moment I can only say that I'm happy at Madrid and that the fans treat me very well. I'm going to do everything possible to stay."
Pepe also declined to talk about any supposed offer from Barcelona, saying in AS: "I'm a Madrid player and it's a lack of respect for the Madrid fans to enter into this. I'm happy in Madrid."

So, if he were worth 40m to Barca, he surely would have to be worth 50m to Real Madrid. The extra 10m would be a 'Figo' type premium. Only this time, it would be a good thing that he go somewhere beside Barcelona.

Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung has been ruled out for four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury on Friday.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

The South Korea international, only recently back from a month-long stint at the Asian Cup in Qatar, damaged the muscle in training.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson told the club's official website: "We got a blow on Saturday morning with the news that Park Ji-sung did his hamstring on Friday afternoon in training.
"It was very unfortunate because it was his last kick of the ball in training as well.
"We were really looking forward to having him back after being away for a month at the Asian Cup. He'll be out for up to a month, which is a blow to us."

It actually means a lot for PL as well daFoot. We have chelsea and liverpool games in the 1st week of march where I think someone like him would be a starter. Park ji is a specific type of player who starts in big games for his ability to run around (in a nutshelll). I would almost argue it means less for CL since we are playing marseille (no disrespect to marseille) and should be able to do without PJS.

Chamakh feels burnt out

Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh has admitted that he might not be ready to resume action with the Gunners until March.
The Morocco international is struggling to cope with the demands of life in the Premier League, having moved to Emirates Stadium from Bordeaux last summer.

He made a positive start to life in England, and has 10 goals to his name this term, but admits the strain is starting to show.
Arsene Wenger has opted to rest him over recent weeks, giving him an opportunity to recharge his batteries while the in-form Robin van Persie leads the line.
Chamakh, though, believes he is still some way short of the level required to compete at the very top of the game.
"By the start of January I felt that I had completely lost my edge," said the 27-year-old striker.
"It was there for all to see. I am only human, so I've been given some rest. Besides, Arsenal have been able to profit from Robin van Persie's form.
"He's walking on water right now - everything he tries comes off.
"It is a blessing in disguise, as the team is doing well and I'm able to get some rest. I hope to play again soon, but it could be in March rather than February.
"But it is not serious. I am here to learn, both in training and matches, and also to improve my game and to acclimatise to London and English football.
"God willing, it will not take too long to happen for me.
"I am fully aware of my new status as a substitute since Van Persie's return to the side. Besides, Nicklas Bendtner is a sub as well. But it is all about what the players do out on the pitch. I am not worried."

Ancelotti: Blues still on course

Carlo Ancelotti insisted Chelsea remain on course to finish in the top four as he defended his decision to drop Didier Drogba against Fulham.
The Blues failed to secure the win needed to lift them back into the Champions League places as new signing Fernando Torres endured another game to forget for the faltering champions.

It would have been even worse for Ancelotti's men but for a stoppage-time penalty save by Petr Cech from Fulham's Clint Dempsey.
But the Chelsea boss was happy with his side's performance and that of £50million striker Torres.
"The most important thing is to finish in the top four," said Ancelotti.
"I think we will be able to do this if we play like we did tonight.
"I'm an optimist and there's good reason to have confidence.
"The football we showed tonight was good, and we have to continue it."
He added: "I think that we deserved to win this game. We could lose it, but Petr Cech saved a penalty with a fantastic save.
"It was a good performance, especially in the second half.
"We put them under a lot of pressure, did not concede opportunities for them to come forward, and we created opportunities."
Torres missed four chances either side of half-time to open his Chelsea account in a woeful display from the Spaniard, who endured chants of 'What a waste of money' from the Fulham fans just over a week after being taunted by Liverpool supporters.

But Ancelotti, who eventually replaced Torres with Drogba, said: "Fernando played well.
"He had some opportunities in the first half and I took him out just to use Didier fresh and with power. That's the only reason I changed him.
"His performance was better than that against Liverpool.
"Every striker wants to score. I don't think he's frustrated because he needs time to play with us and, after one week, he was really better tonight after that first performance."
Explaining his decision to axe Drogba, Ancelotti said: "I don't know if Didier was happy, but every player knows every game is important. It doesn't matter.
"We wanted to rotate to maintain his condition and to give everyone great motivation."
The biggest bright spot for Chelsea was the performance of Torres' fellow new boy David Luiz, who shone on his full debut despite conceding the stoppage-time penalty.
"Maybe he was tired," said Ancelotti.
"He'd played a very good game, showing fantastic ability as a defender and as a player.
"He had a fantastic pass for Torres in the first half. That's good news for us."
Fulham boss Mark Hughes claimed Dempsey's penalty should have been retaken, suggesting referee Mike Dean knew as much.
"Drogba was encroaching in the box," he said.
"Mike Dean saw it: he was alongside Clint as he kicked it. Mike Dean saw that, so it should have been retaken."
Cech's save denied Fulham a sixth straight home win and only their second derby victory over Chelsea in 29 attempts.
Hughes added: "Given the circumstances at the end, it's disappointment.
"We came up against a strong Chelsea side who posed questions of us in the second half, and we had to be strong and resilient.
"But it was a real opportunity to beat a very good side at the end.
"We've been playing well of late and showed real character to dig in and create chances at the other end."
Hughes was not surprised by Ancelotti's decision to axe one of Drogba or Torres.
"We sensed there might be a change," said Hughes, who revealed Cottagers defender Brede Hangeland played despite suffering from "a raging temperature" this afternoon.
"The talk was about rotation leading up to the game, different systems, so we thought one of them might start from the bench.
"They've got big games coming up.
"Maybe Carlo thought this would be a good game for Fernando to start."

i think ancelotti is not a tactition, its clear to see, he insists in playing this diamond formation with most players out of position, why he would not play a 442 formation is baffeling to me. A 442 solidifies his mid field which is chelsea's main problem, the team also needs a creative midfielder passing the ball from side to side is not working, teams in the league are wise to us now we need something fresh.I will not start torres and benching drogba i feel came down from the hierarchy which was silly,i will bring on torres when the team has some momentum he suits that play, chelsea's slow lartargic style of play cost them the league when most teams start off games by attacking we pass the ball aroung giving teams time to settle and read us.

import-good observation on Malouda. I saw the same thing. As for Anelka, I have a strange feeling your gaffer didn't give him clear instructions. You would have been better without Anelka in the line-up.

I tend to agree with Carlo re Torres. He didn't have a great game but other than his finishing he played well. He is still a bundle of nerves with all the expectations put on him but he'll start finishing and you guys will have a world class striker firing on all cylinders.

I'm worried the guy continues to play people out of position without correcting them. Anelka was all over the place and was never in position on the right wing. Malouda was dipping inside constantly so Cole had to pickup his slack as well. Lamps is just not the same and I'm afraid he will never be that 15 goal midfielder for us again. Worst of all benching our top scorer/assist is just playing with fire.

I would start injecting more youth into the team and get rid of this 433 - play a 442 with a diamond midfield. Use Mikel/Ramires/Mceachron in the mid as needed; keep essien has defensive mid, rotate Malouda/Lamps with the kids. Upfront use Anelka/Kalou for subs and start DD/Torres. Defense we are fine but inject Bruma/Luiz when we can.

Goals from Gary Cahill and Daniel Sturridge earned Bolton a 2-0 win at The Reebok that kept Everton looking nervously at the relegation zone.
Sturridge is looking like one of the signings of the January transfer window after grabbing his third goal in three games for the Trotters.
On loan from Chelsea, the England Under-21 striker put the match out of Everton's reach after Gary Cahill opened the scoring with his first goal of the season.

It was just the result the club were looking for after losing five out of their previous seven league games.
They got off to a perfect start with Cahill opening the scoring in the 10th minute following Stuart Holden's free-kick on the left flank.
He peeled away from his marker and saw his header come off Everton defender John Heitinga and wrong-footed Tim Howard.
Everton responded and should have equalised in 17th minute when Tim Cahill was left unmarked at the back post but volleyed wide following a cross from Leighton Baines.
Bolton were forced to make a switch in the 27th minute with defender Zat Knight unable to continue. He fell awkwardly after tangling with Victor Anichebe and was replaced by David Wheater.
The home side kept up the pressure and won a free-kick 20 yards out after Heitinga was adjudged to have tripped Sturridge as he tried to race forward.
Matt Taylor stepped up but only succeeded in drilling his effort into the arms of Howard.
Everton again found themselves on the back foot in the 39th minute when Holden delivered a free-kick to the back post. Howard, however, punched clear with Wheater waiting for any slip-ups.
Play switched down the other end and Cahill tested Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen from the edge of the area.
The home side were looking the brighter of the two teams at this stage and Taylor attempted to pick out Sturridge in the area a minute before half-time.
However Phil Neville was perfectly positioned and made the interception at the post to concede a corner, much to Everton's relief.
Bolton started the second half on the front foot and won a free-kick in the 51st minute after Sturridge was tripped by Marouane Fellaini.

The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

Taylor stepped up 20 yards out but his effort failed to breach the defensive wall.
Everton suddenly turned up the pace and Anichebe got into a good position in the area in the 56th minute only for Cahill to make a crucial block for Bolton.
Then Fellaini was set up by Seamus Coleman but he sent his effort high and wide of the woodwork.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle decided to freshen things up in the 59th minute by bringing on Lee Chung-yong for Taylor.
This was a good spell by Everton with Cahill beginning to find more room in and around the area. He then sent a snap shot over the bar five minutes later.
However Bolton went 2-0 ahead in the 67th minute with Sturridge's third goal in three matches since arriving on loan from Chelsea.
The striker smashed the ball into the corner from an acute angle following a flick-on from Lee.
Holden found the net for Bolton in the 80th minute after a back heel from Sturridge. However, referee Lee Probert ruled out the American's effort, the lruling that Sturridge had run the ball over the by-line.
Everton responded and substitute Jose Baxter rattled in a shot three minutes later that was parried by Jaaskelainen.
Johan Elmander almost added a third for Bolton two minutes after Kevin Davies' knock-on, only to see his effort go marginally wide of the target.
While Bolton were celebrating, these remain worrying times for Everton after only two wins in the league on the road.
