Earlier announced by Cameroon Football Federation, the Cameroon-China friendly match slated for next February in Beijing will no longer be held following China’s unwillingness to play Cameroon, according to Camfoot.
The Football Association of The People’s Republic of China, which said it was not thoroughly informed of the meeting with Cameroon, has programmed a friendly with an undisclosed team on the same date the proposed game against the Indomitable Lions was to take place.
The Cameroon FA had Mexico and Cote d’Ivoire as options for a warm-up friendly ahead of the 2012 AFCON third round qualifying, but pundits suggest the central African country wanted China because of financial advantages.
Cameroon did not play a friendly during Fifa’s last international break, and might miss the next one if adjustments are not made in time to obtain another team.

Mwalusako: Niombeni radhi

*Atoa siku saba, vinginevyo...

Barcelona's Dani Alves: Cristiano Ronaldo Is Too Arrogant To Be The World's Best Player

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves brands Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo 'a little bit arrogant'.

By Paul Macdonald

Dec 14, 2010 2:30:00 PM

Barcelona defender Dani Alves believes that Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo is too arrogant to be considered the best player in the world.

The Brazilian full-back discussed the Portuguese international in an interview with A Bola, stating that although he has no doubts about Ronaldo's abilities as a footballer, there are some elements about his personality that need work.

Alves remarked: "To be the best player in the world, you cannot just play well, you must also be liked by other people, and I understand that his attitude ends up hurting, a little, the great player that he really is.

"I do not doubt that Cristiano is one of the best players in the world today, and he has many skills, but at the same time he also has flaws. I think that the best player in the world should be quiet, humble, and friendly. Lionel Messi is all of these things, while Cristiano often lacks some of these qualities."

The former Sevilla full-back also spoke of his current contract negotiations with the Blaugrana, adding: "My priority is Barcelona, but I cannot close any doors. I feel happy, but both sides have to agree first.

Spanish Inquisition: Should Real Madrid Sign Carlos Tevez From Manchester City In January?

Goal.com's Subhankar Mondal explores whether los Blancos should splash the cash for the Argentine star...

By Subhankar Mondal

Dec 14, 2010 2:15:00 PM

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez conceded that his coach Jose Mourinho has been right and officially opened the search for a new striker. That was after the Clasico disaster. Around the same time, Carlos Tevez, who has long claimed that he is falling out of love with football, began to hit the headlines as reports surfaced about his problems with Manchester City officials and manager Roberto Mancini.

Then at the weekend Tevez handed in his transfer request at the club and Madrid took notice. Suddenly Mourinho's search seemed to have ended. Hugo Almeida, Asamoah Gyan, Samuel Eto'o, Diego Milito, Edin Dzeko and Emmanuel Adabayor all have been linked with a move to the Bernabeu but Tevez is the most feasible option.

As an Atletico Madrid-supporting Spain-based Goal.com journalist remarked: "It wouldn't surprise me if Madrid were behind all this. This wouldn't be the first time that they would have played behind the scenes. Plus they need a striker."

Whether that has any grain of truth cannot be ascertained at the moment but what can be said for sure is that Madrid need a Carlos Tevez. Mourinho has long claimed that he requires a centre-forward to complete his squad and Tevez could be the answer he is looking for. The Argentine may not be an out-and-out striker but Madrid can do without that for the time being. Higuain has been among the goals and although the 22-year-old is not an exceptional footballer (mainly because he lacks the innate genius to be one), he has developed over the past three seasons and has banged in the goals this term too.

113304_hp.jpg
Not that Tevez cannot score. 39 goals in 58 competitive appearances for City since 2009 followed two trophy-laden years at United. In the tail-end of 2006-07 it was the Argentine's sorcery and goals that rescued West Ham United from suffering relegation from the Premier League. Tevez is versatile, explosive and besides being a hard-worker is mobile and has great technique too. Without him Man City have struggled this campaign, with him the Citizens have looked formidable.

Crucially, the Argentine will tactically fit into Jose Mourinho's system. Last season the Portuguese coach deployed a 4-2-1-3 and a 4-2-3-1 formation that had Diego Milito as the centre-forward and targetman. Samuel Eto'o had to slot in to the left side of the attack-line and did exceptionally well there; given that Tevez is much more versatile that Eto'o was when the Cameroonian was at Barcelona, there is little doubt that Tevez can fit into Madrid's 4-2-3-1 set-up as the lone striker or as part of the attacking three. Tevez will even slot in comfortably if Mourinho reverts to a two-man forward line.

At Eastlands Tevez craves a little piece of Argentina; in Madrid he will have loads of it. Higuain, Fernando Gago and Angel Di Maria are Tevez's international team-mates and just across the other side of the Great Divide in Spain is Lionel Messi at Barcelona. This homeliness and familial feeling is accentuated when one considers that Cristiano Ronaldo and he used to play together at Old Trafford. Argentines, and, by extension South American players, tend to succeed more in Spain and Italy than in England and given that Tevez would have no language problem and would enjoy some good weather too, he could just be able to get over his homesickness.

The cherry on the cake is the 26-year-old's eligibility in Europe. He may have featured in the Europa League for Manchester City this season but under UEFA rules he is allowed to feature in Madrid's Champions League campaign for the remainder of the campaign. Which means that los Blancos, who at the moment look the favourites along with Barcelona to win the European Cup, will strengthen. Which, in terms of relativity, means that their opponents will weaken.
118423_hp.jpg

As much as Perez claims that theirs is a long-term project, two successive seasons without winning anything will be a full-blown disaster. Madrid are the second-best team in Spain and can win the Liga title only if Barcelona make a mistake. Europe, as much as this sounds ridiculous, is a much safer bet at the moment given that most of the major sides in Europe are struggling.

And it's not that Tevez will ail Madrid's problems only this season; he will be a long-term recruitment too. Benzema is highly likely to stutter his way though the sands of the Madrid desert until the summer when he would probably force a move out. In 2012 France will be involved in the European Championships and Benzema will be required to play regular football in 2011-12.

Yet not all the time is there sunshine in Madrid. Tevez's is a personality that could become volatile and this is a concern for any prospective suitor. Remember, he has left his last three clubs under clouds of controversy and under acrimonious circumstances. He refused to play for Corinthians when the offer from West Ham United floated in, his divorce from the Hammers and subsequent marriage to Manchester United was messy and so was his crossover from the red half of Manchester to the blue half.

Also, remember that this is player who moans and groans about leaving for Argentina in spite of living in one of the most multicultural countries in Europe; this is the player who often claims that he has lost the desire to play football and that he wants to retire from the game altogether; this is the player who has publicly demonstrated his ire at manager Roberto Mancini. Pedro Leon didn't follow Mourinho's instructions against Levante and decided to apply his own intelligence like a weekly magazine contributor who believes that he knows more than the editor and was promptly dropped for the Champions League trip to Auxerre. Imagine if Tevez shouts at Mourinho like he did at Mancini...

Of course, it is not 100% ascertained whether Tevez is available in the winter transfer market given that Man City have no need for cash and are reportedly pressing charges against him.

Even if City are eager to sell, they will ask for an astronomical amount. Would Madrid be prepared to shell out that much? Last summer they lost Inter's Maicon because of an extra few million that they didn't have in their pocket. Money is a concern these days at the world's most successful club.

Madrid's situation is a bit like that of a blind man who has been informed of a new technology that could restore his eyesight. It is expensive and there is no guarantee that it will cure him, but there is also no guarantee that it will not cure him and he is desperate to see the wonders of the world again.

Caught between expensive daylight and spooky darkness, what will Madrid opt for? Let's wait and see.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo says that his goal against Zaragoza on Sunday evening was one of the best of his career.

The Portugal international was on target with a thunderous free-kick on 44 minutes in the Blancos' 3-1 victory over the relegation-threatened side.

The win helped los Merengues keep pace with leaders Barcelona and Ronaldo believes that it is a sign that they have bounced back from their Clasico hammering.

"My goal is a sign that the team is working hard," the 25-year-old is quoted as saying by Madrid's official website. "It was one of the best goals of my career.

"We are playing well. I wouldn't have been able to score had my team-mates not provoked the foul. I am pleased. We want to extend this winning streak as long as we can."

Reflecting on their performance in Zaragoza, the former Ballon d'Or winner ruminated, "We were very relaxed at the start and Zaragoza came out motivated. Things got a lot easier once we scored.

"That is when we started to play better. It wasn't an easy match. They started off strong, but [Mesut] Oezil's goal served us well and helped us take control."

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has once again put rumours of a potential move to Inter on the back burner, but did thank Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti for his praise.

The diminutive Argentina international was in Milan at an even organised by Dolce & Gabbana and spoke about the newspaper links to the current European champions.

"At the moment I'm not thinking about Inter," the 23-year-old stated to Sky Sport 24.

"Moratti? I like his compliments - he is a great president and a very good person."

Messi has once again been in sensational form this season, bagging 23 goals already between appearances in La Liga and the Champions League and sitting in first place in the Castrol Rankings.

The eighth annual match against poverty in Greece ended in a highly entertaining draw that saw four goals and much attacking football. Ricardo Se Pinto recorded a brace in the first half, but Kostas Mitroglou halved the visiting team's lead just before the break. Mitroglou was again on target in the second half to complete the comeback for Olympiacos All Stars.

Ronaldo, Zidane & friends dominated the proceedings in the early minutes of the game and deservedly took the lead in the ninth minute through Pinto, who broke the deadlock with a fine lob and tap-in.

The hosts started pushing for an equaliser, but Pinto pinned them back again in the 19th minute after capitalising on a mistake by Olympiacos' defence. Despite dominating possession, the Greek team was unable to create any clear-cut chances.

In the 27th minute Mitroglou halved the deficit with a precise finish from near the penalty spot to give the hosts a glimmer of hope. Krisztian Nemeth had a few good chances to draw the game level in the remaining minutes of the first half, but was ultimately unable to find the back of the net.

After the break, Olympiacos All Stars continued to press for an equaliser and went close on a couple of occasions through Nemeth and Jaouad Zairi. Mitroglou, however, was the hero yet again in the 50th minute when he completed his brace with a fine solo effort that saw him bypass three players and Olympiacos team-mate Antonios Nikopolidis before slotting home.

The tempo of the game dropped after the goal and chances were few and far between in the remaining minutes. Still, the hosts were granted with a superb opportunity to win the game from being two down in the 89th minute when Francois Modesto blasted a header over the bar from close range.

Ronaldo, Zidane and Friends team consisted of stars of past and present including Antonis Nikopolidis (Greece), Ronald de Boer (Netherlands), Darko Kovačević (Serbia), Mahamadou Diarra (Mali), Nuno Gomes (Portugal), Sabri Lamouchi (France), Ricardo Sá Pinto (Portugal), Cornel Râpă (Romania), Raúl Albiol (Spain), Yaya Touré (Ivory Coast), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Netherlands), Pierre van Hooijdonk (Netherlands), William (Brazil), Anthar Yahia (Algeria), Silviu Ilie (Romania), Marius Găman (Romania).

Olympiacos All Stars team contained much of the current of the Greek outfit squad, along with a number of Olympiacos veterans, including Giorgos Anatolakis, Predrag Djordjević, Alexandros Alexandris, Andreas Niniadis, Grigoris Georgatos, Darko Kovačević, and Christian Karembeu.
