Wolves somehow avoided a landslide as Arsenal banished memories of Newcastle's comeback last week with a 2-0 home win in the Premier League.
Robin van Persie scored both goals at the Emirates, the first an athletic volleyed effort, and having surrendered a four-goal lead at St James' Park, the Gunners never looked like losing their way this time.

Relegation candidates Wolves, meanwhile, may just be happy not to have conceded more after the hosts somehow failed to add to their tally despite numerous chances.
Having been deployed in the anchor role for England in midweek, Jack Wilshere almost immediately set about showing his attacking credentials.
One nice touch set up an early Arsenal break and then, with three minutes gone, he left Jamie O'Hara for dead as he surged toward the Wolves box.
Christophe Berra tripped him just outside the area to set up a promising free-kick for van Persie, but he shot well over.
The Dutchman's radar was even further off moments later when he screwed Alex Song's pass well wide from 20 yards.
With 16 minutes gone, Arsenal scored the opener, Cesc Fabregas floating a cross in from the right channel and van Persie executing a wonderful volley from a horizontal position.
Andrey Arshavin should have made it 2-0 four minutes later but fluffed his shot after Wayne Hennessey misread a van Persie corner.
Wolves seemed most troublesome from corners, Berra and Ronald Zubar both winning headers but failing to test Wojciech Szczesny in the Arsenal goal.
The visitors seemed increasingly nervy though, Hennessey suffering from a lack of communication with his defenders and Wilshere coasting into the box uncontested.
Wolves somehow avoided going further behind twice in the space of seconds as Arsenal exerted more pressure.
Wilshere freed Arshavin with a glorious long pass before the Russian left Zubar on his backside as he pivoted and cut across to van Persie.
His shot was saved brilliantly by Hennessey only for the loose ball to reach Fabregas, whose low drive ricocheted off the retreating Richard Stearman on the line.
An offside flag, as well as a modest finish, denied Arshavin after fine work by Walcott and despite being just one behind, Wolves looked shellshocked.
Referee Chris Foy turned down a penalty appeal from Arshavin and Hennessey saved well from van Persie at his near post seconds before the interval to leave Wolves, improbably, still in the game.
Wilshere continued to show his class as the second period started, easing past a handful of Wolves players in the penalty area and laying the ball off to the supporting Walcott for what looked a certain goal.
Walcott contrived to send his shot wide and looked almost as shocked as his team-mates not be celebrating a second.
Hennessey was playing his part too, saving smartly with his foot after Nenad Milijas looked as if he might turn Walcott's cross over his own line.
By now the game was being played almost exclusively in Wolves' final third, with Arshavin and Walcott causing endless problems on the wings.

Finally, with 56 minutes on the clock, van Persie made it 2-0.
Fabregas was the creator with a perfectly-weighted pass from the deep leaving Walcott and van Persie with a two on one against Berra.
The England winger did his job, rolling the ball to his team-mate who slotted home his 10th league goal of the season.
The chances continued, first Fabregas and then van Persie going close.
Walcott had more energy than even the Wolves substitutes and drew a foul from replacement striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake after 72 minutes.
With Barcelona awaiting on Wednesday, Arsene Wenger used the break in play to withdraw Arshavin and van Persie, with the superb Wilshere following soon after.
Arsenal's tempo slowed from then and they had a hairy moment off an 82nd-minute corner when Szczesny was forced to palm a looping ball over the bar.
Walcott probably deserved a goal and was unlucky to see a late effort smothered by the brave Hennessey following a neat one-two with Marouane Chamakh.

Barcelona drew 1-1 at Sporting Gijon on Saturday, bringing an end to the Spanish leaders' record run of consecutive wins and breathing life into the league race.
David Barral scored Sporting's opener in the 16th. After some nice work down the left flank, the Spanish striker cut back across the area to separate from Gerard Pique and shot past goalkeeper Victor Valdes into the far corner of the net.
After Sporting played better in the first half, Barcelona dominated from the restart and David Villa leveled the score in the 80th, beautifully chipping goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar.

"Barcelona cannot settle for a draw because we always like winning, but it is true that Sporting was better than we were in many aspects (of the game)," said Villa, who began his career with Sporting.
The draw gave second-place Real Madrid the opportunity to pull within five points with its visit to Espanyol on Sunday.
Previously, the back-to-back champions had won a historic 16 straight games, outscoring their opponents 60-6 along the way.
But Sporting kept the visitors from staying perfect away from Camp Nou this season by beating them at their own game in the first half. While most teams have tried, and failed, to play behind the ball against Barcelona, Sporting relentlessly pressured up the pitch, disrupting the flow of Barcelona's possession-based attack and looking to the pace of its forwards to mark the difference.
"Now is when we can see the value of winning 16 straight," said coach Pep Guardiola.
Elsewhere, Joaquin Sanchez scored a double to rally Valencia to a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid.
With Barcelona's Champions League round-of-16 visit to Arsenal looming midweek, Guardiola rested regular starters Pedro Rodriguez, Sergio Busquets and Eric Abidal, with Ibrahim Afellay, Javier Mascherano and Gabriel Milito taking their places in the starting 11.
Sporting started brightly, and Barral soon put the Catalan side behind in the score in La Liga for the first time since week seven against Valencia - a game it came back to win 2-1.
Sporting came close to doubling its lead on another counterattack near the half-hour mark. But Pique recovered in time to cut off Barral's progress.
"We gave our lives for this draw," said Sporting coach Manuel Preciado. "Although it seems to me that against the best team in the world it should be worth more than a point."
Guardiola sent on Pedro after halftime, and Barcelona immediately began to dominate, keeping the action in Sporting's area. Cuellar had to deny Xavi Hernandez, Lionel Messi and Dani Alves in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
Sporting held firm in defense until Villa equalized with his 15th goal of the season to split the points after Pedro tapped wide with two minutes to play.
"At the end we were able to get the draw and we have to make good on the point (we earned)," said Villa.
At Vicente Calderon Stadium, Jose Antonio Reyes put Atletico ahead in the third minute, but Joaquin equalized in the 41st, firing in a cross that striker Roberto Soldado smartly touched through to the veteran winger.
Diego Forlan wasted a chance to regain the lead for Atletico in the 57th when he hit the post with a penalty, and Joaquin scored the winner with a hard right-footed blast from the edge of the area in the 86th.
Atletico defender Diego Godin was shown a red card for making contact with Joaquin in the 90th.
Valencia's seventh win in its last eight games moved it up to third above Villarreal, which plays Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday.
Atletico's fourth straight loss comes after a week of Spanish media reports that said coach Quique Sanchez Flores was at risk of being fired.
"If they fire me I will be paid the same, but I don't want that," said Sanchez Flores. "I want to continue giving my all for the club and my players."
Later, Marcelino Garcia Toral took charge of Racing Santander for the first time as it hosted seventh-place Sevilla.
Also, on Sunday, it's: Levante vs. Almeria, Malaga vs. Getafe, Hercules vs. Zaragoza, and Real Sociedad vs. Osasuna.
Athletic Bilbao looks for fifth straight in its visit to Mallorca on Monday.

Pep Guardiola has set his sights on more silverware and vowed not to live off past glories after agreeing to extend his Barcelona contract.
The new deal will take Guardiola through to the end of next season, and the 40-year-old - who won an unprecedented treble of Champions League, Primera Division and Copa del Rey crowns in his first season - is as hungry for success as ever.

"I can see myself here for one more year... then, we'll see," he said. "What I want to do is get the best out of this team.
"Having reached the Copa del Rey final and doing so well in La Liga has shown me that there is no reason not to stay here for another year."
Guardiola will continue to demand the same high standards of himself and his team.
He added on Barca's website: "I don't want to rest on my laurels. There is no place like this, but we have to keep winning."
Fielding questions about when he plans to leave the club, Guardiola explained: "When I feel I'm not needed, and don't have the passion and strength that I have now, that's when I'll feel enough is enough. Then I'd go.
"There are two ways of leaving. When you aren't winning and get sacked or when you leave naturally, knowing that the right time has come.
"Everything has to end at some point.
"When you have been here for four years [which is how long he will have been in the post in June 2012], then you are nearer to the end than the start."
Guardiola's side face Arsenal next week in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 encounter, and could do so without captain Carles Puyol.
The 32-year-old centre-back has been out of action for three weeks due to a knee injury and Guardiola will not rush him back into action before he is ready.
"He's doing well, but if you ask him to make an extra effort, he'll get hurt again," he said.
"He is improving, but he's not yet at that stage where he can keep going and tolerate too much effort. But he is heading in the right direction."
