Tanzania secures more scholarships from Indian Govt

The government of India has increased the number of scholarships to Tanzanians. Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said the increase was made in response to a request by Vice-President Dr Ali Mohamed Shein who is on an official tour of India.

Singh said Dr Shein requested the Indian government to increase the number of scholarships so as to enable more Tanzanians acquire expertise for the country`s development.

Dr Shein also requested the government of India to offer scholarships which would be used to train water engineers as the country currently experiences shortage of water expertise.

Dr Shein appreciated Indian government assistance to Tanzania, which he said has brought development to the people ...insisted on the importance of the sub continent`s govt assisting Tanzania in various spheres of development.

Hivi huu mkataba wa RITES ni wa Management au ni wa share holders ambao unaendeshwa basing on the contribution of both parties?
Mana nimemsikia Siraji Kaboyonga mmoja wa Board Member wa hilo Shirika TRL na Mbunge akidai kuwa hata kabla ya hapo serekali ilikuwa ikitoa Pesa kuiendesha TRC, bila kuelewa kwamba wakati huo shareholding ya serekali ilikuwa ni 100%, sasa hivi ni 49%. So kama ni hela za Mishahara or what ever what is the contribution ya hao Wahindi???
Pili hao RITES wamelipa nini mpaka sasa ili kupata hio 51% ya Share na Nini ni Contribution ya Serekali kwa hiyo 49%??? Au ndio huo usanii??? na So far nani haja tekeleza sehemu ya mkataba?? na Hiyo 620 millioni paid to rites kwa ajili ya Management Fees au ndio njia kusafirisha Profit kwa Mlango wa Nyuma???

Mwandosya hakuhusika na haku-sign chochote, hakuwa waziri mkataba ulivyokuwa signed (alikuwa waziri wakati wa bidding process na Psrc ndio wanahusika na tender za bidding na kuchagua nani kashinda)...kufa na Chenge na Psrc(always look at timelines ppl)

THE TANZANIAN government and RITES Ltd of India signed a 25-year concession agreement for the 2 700 km metre-gauge state railway on September 3. The government holds 49% in the newly-established Tanzania Railway Ltd, with RITES holding 51%, and operation of Tanzania Railways Corp is scheduled to be officially handed over on October 1.

An asset holding company, Reli Assets Holding Company (RAHCO), has been formed to oversee implementation of the agreement and monitor TRL's performance. It will also supervise future investments in the railway's infrastructure. The Surface & Marine Transport Regulatory Authority, a department of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, will act as regulator.

The agreement was signed by TRL Director Sudhir Kumar and Agnes Bukuku, Acting Chairman of the RAHCO board. The ceremony had initially been scheduled to take place in 2006, but was postponed after the government, RITES Ltd and the International Finance Corp differed on the terms of the agreement.

The concessionaire's top initial priority is to revive passenger services from Dar-es-Salaam to the hinterland, suspended some time ago due to the poor condition of the infrastructure. 3 286 TRC employees are to be employed by TRL when the new management takes over, on terms and conditions no less favourable than those they currently enjoy. Headcount will be reduced by 3 204.

TRL ordered some parts from a local company, signed a proforma stating they should pay an advance of 50% upfront with an LPO ... some of the parts were supplied and others were to be supplied in 2 weeks time, after arrival of same TRL was informed of the arrival of the goods but the company required now 100% payment before delivery of the remaining parts ... to their suprise TRL refused to honour this instead they decided to cancel the LPO but has never returned the previously supplied lot.

Are these guys really genuine?
