Moroccan King jets in Dar Sunday

It is naive for any Kenyan to complain of Tanzania's new economic partnership with Morocco while Tanzania reiterated her stand as far as Western Sahara's independence at the same time we all know Kenya is the last country in Africa to recognize Sahawari Magharibi in 2005! Shame on u puppet nation..

rais magufuli anaomba mfalme amjengee kiwanja?! he had an opportunity and he wasted it on a football stadium?

if you are going to beg, at the very least make sure its for something worthwhile.

the worst part is that Moroccans aren't exactly famous for their stadium building skills

but what do i know, maybe magufuli has some grand plan for a morrocan built stadium that i cannot see

nomasana, mtoto wa kiume acha wivu. That stadium will stand tall to remind every fool like u, was a present by his Majesty on a first visit to Tanzania. That is $80-100 mln stadium.

Kafrican, mmeomba funds? Sisi itakuwa bure na isitoshe Bagamoyo port is on draw board.

Dar, Rabat ink 21 mega deals
TANZANIA and Morocco yesterday signed 21 mega deals involving about 4 trillion/-, thanks to the historic visit by Moroccan King Mohammed VI.
The inked deals cover the natural gas, energy, minerals, science and technology, agriculture, tourism, banking, insurance, export processing zones, transport and health sectors, involving the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Bank of Africa, Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN), Morocco’s Office Cherifien de Phosphate (OCP), Moroccan Insurer (MAMDA), Attijariwafa Bank and the government.

King Mohamed, whose trip to East Africa included a stopover in Rwanda last week, had talks with President John Magufuli in Dar es Salaam yesterday, focusing on broadening the cordial relations between the two friendly countries.

The Moroccan Monarch promised to support Tanzania’s renewable energy sector, promote private partnerships, south-south relations, support the tourism industry and improve trade relations between the two countries.

President John Magufuli, flanked by his duputy, MsSamia Suluhu Hassan, and Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the visit by the Moroccan King signifies the long-term friendship between the two nations.

Dr Magufuli, speaking at his Magogoni office, consented to his guest’s plea to extend his stay in the city for a night. While Morocco has named one of the golf playgrounds after Dar es Salaam, Tanzania has one of her streets in the city named after Morocco.

“Our aim is to build the middle income nation powered by industries...the agreements we have signed here today mark greater mileage towards attaining this goal,” President Magufuli said, assuring that the Tanzanian economic growth was on track, having recorded an impressive 7.9 per cent growth in the second quarter as well as dwindling inflation at four percent.

“We want our economy to grow at an average of 7.2 percent come next year,” he added. Foreign Affairs and International Corporation Minister Dr Augustine Mahiga said the relationship between Tanzania and Morocco dates back to 1631.

Describing it as a special visit, Dr Mahiga said Tanzania has for the first time in history witnessed over 20 agreements and convections signed at once.

Impressed Trade, Industry and Investment Minister Charles Mwijage said the arrival of the Moroccan King will indeed help to improve trade and investments in the country.

He described the royal tour of the country, preceded by a three-day Tanzania-Morocco Business Forum, as highly successful, with fruitful deliberations through which Moroccan investors promised to support various sectors in the country.

Morocco’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Salahddine Mezouar and CGEM Chairperson Amine Bouarti expressed commitment to cooperate with Tanzania’s Private Sector in exchanging and sharing technical expertise.

Morocco-Tanzania cooperation can play a crucial role in making King Mohammed VI current visit a success, which is very important to boost confidence and stimulate growth.

It takes two to tango, that’s why Morocco and Tanzania have to take every opportunity to strengthen cooperation in the economic area for the benefit of the two countries and the African economy.
Today King Mohammed VI and The Tanzanian president John Pombe Magufuli, presided over the signing ceremony of 22 bilateral agreements.

The Moroccan Press Agency MAP reported that these agreements involve economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, the establishment of a mechanism for political consultation, the field of hydrocarbons, energy, mining and geology, air transportation, agriculture, fisheries, fertilizers, renewable energy, tourism, culture insurance in Tanzania, the promotion of industrial and logistical clusters, and the development of logistical and railway corridors between Tanzania’s ports and industrial clusters.

These agreements touch also on the partnership between the two countries’ employer associations, health, the banking sector, the promotion and funding of trade and investment in Africa, insurance, as well as the setting up of a unit for upmarket tea packaging.

The agreements, which are meant to foster the legal framework governing bilateral cooperation, are in line with the royal vision seeking to reinforce south-south partnership.

In a speech on the occasion, the Tanzanian president thanked HM the King for his official visit to Tanzania along with an important delegation.

“Tanzania is ready to cooperate with all its strength with You”, said president Magufuli, who underlined that the 22 cooperation agreements, inked today, will contribute to the industrialization, transformation and modernization of the economy of Tanzania, a country boasting important natural and mining resources.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Tanzanian minister of foreign affairs and East Africa Augustine Mahiga lauded the fact that these agreements will write a new chapter in the history of relations between Morocco and Tanzania, noting that the visit of HM the King helped promote bilateral ties diplomatically and economically.

Mahiga hailed the holding, over the past three days in Dar es Salaam, of the 1st Moroccan-Tanzanian trade and investment forum, marked by the participation of a host of officials and economic operators from both countries.

Tanzanian minister of industry, trade and investment Charles John Mwijage submitted, on this occasion, recommendations of the report on the Moroccan-Tanzanian trade and investment forum, underlining the importance of this first meeting that will give a boost to economic cooperation.

The Tanzanian minister noted that the said recommendations include the reinforcement of air routes between the two countries through direct flights.

Moroccan foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar, for his part, affirmed that HM the King’s official visit to Tanzania is historic as it opens a new page in bilateral relations, stressing that it is high time to work hand in hand to build a sustainable partnership. Mezouar noted that the signature of these 22 agreements mirrors the tangible model of south-south cooperation as advocated by His Majesty the King in favor of the promotion and the development of Africa. Chairwoman of the Moroccan employers’ association (CGEM) Miriem Bensalah-Chaqroun commended the huge efforts by Tanzania regarding economic transformation, as part of the country’s 2025 development vision.

Undoubtedly, both countries will synergize their policy tools and make their institutional dialogue architecture more result-oriented and forward-looking’ in the coming years. It is quite in the range of possibility as the leaders of both the countries are dynamic and capable of taking quick decisions.

Morocco and Tanzania are aware that collaboration is mutually advantageous. Consequently the various agreements in diverse areas concluded today will ensure that Morocco and Tanzania’s nascent interactions become regular, predictable, and permanent. Besides, these agreements will affirm Morocco and Tanzania’s commitment to conduct their dealings within a rules-based framework, thereby allowing their interaction to become orderly and sustainable. Moroccan-Tanzanian relations are set for an unprecedented leap for the benefit of both the countries.

King Mohammed VI, who is paying an official three-day visit to Tanzania, held private talks in Dar es Salam with Tanzania’s President John Pombe Magufuli.

Afterwards, the two leaders exchanged symbolic presents, and the King presented Morocco’s highest distinction, the Al Muhammadi Wissam, to the Tanzanian President.

The King’s visit is of great strategic significance as it takes place at a time Morocco launched a diplomatic offensive to strengthen ties with Key African English speaking countries in support of its bid to regain its natural place in the African Union.

Tanzania is the second leg in an eastern African tour that took the King to Rwanda with Ethiopia as the final stop.

As part of his visit to Tanzania, the King chaired along with Tanzania’s President the signing ceremony of 22 cooperation agreements that mark a prelude of win-win partnerships in fields ranging from tourism, agriculture, industry, renewable energies, transport, services and finance to cultural and scientific cooperation.

In a comment, Tanzania’s foreign minister told the press that the visit of the Moroccan monarch lays foundation for strengthened economic and political relations as evidenced by the agreements that were signed by the two countries.

He welcomed the opening of the Moroccan embassy in Dar es Salam and the appointment of Ambassador Abdelilah Benrayane, adding that Tanzania will open a general consulate in Morocco shortly.

The Tanzanian Foreign Minister shed light on the shared history between Morocco and Tanzania in terms of the fight against colonialism, highlighting the role played by the Casablanca Group in supporting Africa’s emancipation from the yoke of colonialism.

King Mohammed VI visit is also an occasion to pay tribute to Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta who visited Tanzania 685 years ago, said the foreign minister, adding that in 1960 late King Mohammed V held talks with late President Julius Nyerere on supporting African independent movements.
