Maybe you should also consider looking for her in the places you used to hang out. How close were you? Sometimes you just have to go back to the places you used to meet/go, you would be surprised to find some valuable hints.

I'm female. We were as close as sixth graders can be.
Didn't have hang out places really, just school and sometimes her mom's salon.
