Mwimbaji kiongozi wa bendi ya Reggae ya Morgan Heritage, Peter 'Peetah' Morgan, amefariki. Bendi hiyo imetangaza kifo cha Peetah kupitia taarifa iliyopostiwa kwenye ukurasa wao wa Instagram jana Jumapili (Februari 25).
Taarifa ya bendi haikuweka wazi sababu ya kifo cha mwimbaji huyo mkongwe lakini illieleza kuwa alikuwa na umri wa miaka 47 wakati wa kifo chake. Bendi ya Morgan Heritagevinaundwa na watoto wa nguli wa muziki wa reggae, Denroy Morgan.
"Ni kwa upendo wa dhati tunawashirikisha kuwa mpendwa wetu, mume, baba, mtoto, ndugu na mwimbaji mkuu wa Morgan Heritage, Peter Anthony Morgan, amepaa leo, Februari 25.”
Taarifa hiyo ilimalizia: "Familia yetu inawashukuru kwa upendo wenu mkubwa na msaada na tunawaomba muendelee na sala zenu tunapopitia kipindi hiki. Pia tunaomba mheshimu faragha yetu wakati tukiendelea kupona"
Sauti ya Peetah Morgan ilisikika kwenye nyimbo kama "She's Still Loving Me," "Down by the River," na hiti kubwa "Don't Haffi Dread (To Be Rasta)."
Watoto watano wa marehemu Denroy Morgan, aliyefariki Machi 2022 akiwa na umri wa miaka 76, ni pamoja na Memmalatel 'Mr Mojo' Morgan, Nakhamyah 'Lukes' Morgan, Una Morgan, na Roy Morgan, maarufu kama Gramps Morgan.
Ikumbukwe pia kuwa Peetah amefanya kazi na wasanii wa Tanzania kama vile Jhikoman kwenye wimbo unaoitwa Afrika Arise (Februari 2017) na Diamond Platnumz ambaye alifanya naye wimbo wa Haleluya (Septemba 2017). Pia amewahi kushirikiana na Hamornize katika wimbo wa Malaika, na Romy Jones katika wimbo unaoitwa Ready.

Reggae band Morgan Heritage’s lead singer, Peter ‘Peetah’ Morgan, has died. The Band announced the passing of Peetah via a statement shared on their Instagram on Sunday (February 25). The Band’s statement did not reveal the veteran singer’s cause of death but revealed he was age 47 at the time of his passing. The group, which comprises the children of late elder statesman of reggae music, Denroy Morgan, posted the announcement to social media this afternoon.
"It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son and brother and lead singer of Morgan Heritage, Peter Anthony Morgan, has ascended today, February 25. Jah come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way," the statement said in part.
The statement concluded: "Our family thanks you in advance for your overwhelming love and support and we ask for your continued prayers as we go through this process. We also ask that you please respect our privacy during this time of healing."
Peetah Morgan’s vocals could be heard on songs including “
She’s Still Loving Me,” “
Down by the River,” and the mega-hit “
Don’t Haffi Dread (To Be Rasta).”
Morgan Heritage is comprised of five siblings, with Peetah Morgan being the lead singer. They are five of the late reggae singer Denroy Morgan’s children. The other members of the Grammy-winning band are Memmalatel’ Mr Mojo’ Morgan, Nakhamyah’ Lukes’ Morgan, Una Morgan, and Roy Morgan, better known as Gramps Morgan.
