Good day. I am a Mozambican currently researching the origins of Farm 17 in Tanzania's Nachingwea District and would appreciate your assistance.
I understand after World War II, Britain settled demobilised soldiers in her colonies. Land was earmarked for those willing to work in farm projects. Farm 17 was part of a group of 21 farms (or 20, according to some sources) established in Nachingwea District.
I would like to know:
a. Details of colonial directives establishing the 21 (or 20) farms in Nachingwea District;
b. Number of demobilised soldiers settled in these farms;
c. What was the are of each farm?
d. Type of farming activities, and terms and conditions;
e. Considering that Farm 17 was allocated to Frelimo and other southern African liberation movements in 1965, when was it shut down as a farming venture?; and
f. What happened to the other farms?;
Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.
