sometimes I think the president is tired of launching things, there was no mention of the trains starting operations only billboards in the CBD. No ceremony, nothing.

Now Nairobi has 200 km of commuter rail, phase 2 will see another 175 km on existing track and i noticed they are starting on the limuru line and will also include the JKIA-Nairobi central railway line. phase 3 will include construction of new track to ongata rongai, Ruai, kangundo etc which will be another almost 200 km of new track

This was spotted at mutindwa along outer ring road. In this configuration the train can carry 600 commuters seated and standing.

Currently the trains are undergoing tests on the track before full rollout.

Nairobi metropolitan services (nms) and KR (Kenya Railways) are currently cleaning up the railway corridor and have started putting up fences all along the corridor. Already they have started with the embakasi line, where fencing and beautification of the corridor is taking place.

two days ago i spotted it along muthurwa apo karibu na station yard yao..imagine its interior they did not alter it..its just same as they were imported and they look like below pics..unless apo mbeleni watu wa railways waibadilishe ..

I am loving it. Nairobi will be the only city after joburg to have over 100 km of commuter rail in sub saharan africa and in 5 years nairobi will have the largest network of commuter rail in africa (500 km).
With planned double tracking after all the phases are complete trains will be doing 20 minute intervals along the network.

Watu wa third world transport (BRT) wakuje nairobi waone commuter rail, siyo kukimbizana na mabasi zimejaa kunguni.

This reminds me so much of the interior of the dsb commuter trains in denmark.

In future I foresee kenyans tagging along with their bikes on the train and using the new cycling lanes in CBD to move around like in utrecht. The new cycling lanes network will go very well with these new trains.
GOK is working hard to get to an environmentally friendly city in nairobi.

yani hii imemalizwa mbele ya sgr yenyu ingawa ilianza baada ya sgr yenyu. na ni 200 km ndani ya nairobi metropolitan. Nyinyi BRT hata 100 km haijafika na hii ni 200 km phase 1 na inabeba watu wengi kushinda hizo basi zenyu zilizo jaa kunguni.

Inaonekana phase 2 ya hii commuter rail ambayo inaanza mwaka ujao( 150 km), pia nayo itaisha kabla mmalize phase 1 ya sgr.

phase ya tatu nayo ambayo itakuwa 200 km naona ikiisha kabla phase 2 ya hiyo sgr yenyu.

Mwisho itawekwa double track ili treni ziwezinaingia baada ya kila dakika 20.
