Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway

Those of you supporting this express way are just blind patriots. What will be the effects of this new road to the SGR especially on freight? we all know how the USA bullies other nations so it is not far fetched to imagine them sabotaging the already existing road and rail for this roadway to make money.
PPP or not, who incurs the cost of land for the development? isn't it the GOK?
If Bechtel want to do a road soo bad, why not develop one from Lamu inland?

Young D....first off all lamu-isiolo highway is sheduled to start anytime..its being funded by south african development bank.....secondly infrastructure projects like this are done with long term effects on mind like say 100 years to come...cargo at mombasa port is always on an upward trend,within the next 5 to 10 years the port would be strecthed beyond its capacity we need the infrastructure to evacuate cargo from that port ASAP....SGR alone is not enough
 
SGR alone can do only 40% maximum cargo uptake from mombasa port. The rest goes on trucks and the current situation on mombasa road is just pathetic.
That 2 lane road passed its capacity capability long ago and needs to be expanded or helped or replaced.
Looking through that ppt, ksh300b looks well spent. If its stretched to single lane, it is 3500km of new road, enough for Nairobi to Durban!
Building this from lamu to isiolo is just stupid. Too little traffic there to make sence when we have clogged mombasa to malaba

how is it stupid when we have a new port coming up in Lamu and next to zero roads their? We have a road and rail system from mombasa which complement each other. As much as you say the deal is ppp who incurs the cost of land acquisition since this project is to be done entirely on acquired land yet if it was done from Lamu to Isiolo, almost the entire stretch is government owned land?

I mean, look at Thika Road and the current SGR which were bashed and are now success stories.

young d....yani unapinga huu mradi...kisa ni mombasa nairobi...highway vyenye iko sasa waifahamu kwel...wacha hzo wewe...yani unataka serikali iendelee kuifanyia ukarabati hyo barabara miaka nenda miaka rudi...hicho kitu kinajengwa ili kukidhi mahitaji ya badae...ujuwe kenya inakuwa bro..

lamu to malaba kujengwa barabara km hyo ni wastage of resources...pale 2 lane tu yenye ubora na pana inatosha...ila hayo ni maoni yangu bro...

Komora, sisemi kuwa huu mradi sio muhimu bali sio priority hivi sasa. 350billion ni hela ndefu na inaweza fanya projects kadhaa ambazo ni muhimu sana. wanaweza wakapanua existing mombasa road at a fraction of that money. We have a new port in Lamu but no roads to evacuate cargo ikishashushwa pale Lamu why not do that road kwanza?

Barabara kutoka lamu mpaka isiolo iko under construction sasa hivi na inampangilio under lappset as 2 lane road, enough for now. Nilisema ni stupid kujenga 6 lane kweye kuchaka na kuwacha 70% ya wakenya who are served by dilapidated a104 to continue suffering and dying in accidents. It seems you haven't got stuck in those 4 days traffic jams on mombasa road. Every weekend or long holidays a104 becomes a shame to our road network.
The americans are paying for this and not GOK. So only those who use it will pay the toll. If you dont want to use it, the old road will still be there.Which debt sensitive Kenyans will accept taking new ksh300b load to expand the current one?

ya lamu km nijuavyo iko under construction..niana jamaa zangu hko...wameshaanza kitu kutoka mwokowe ipitie mpeketoni all the way to minjila sikosoi naongelea the right project...ama ni vp majamaa...

Experssways are built penye kuna traffic. Isiolo to Lamu doesnt need an expressway. Mombasa is a huge city, so is Nairobi. Expressway somehow lazima ingekywa developed. Saw that they are expanding Nairobi-Nakuru highway too. We need modern highways. Si some single lane highway na our 2030 goals
