addis does not have a defined downtown like nairobi or zoned suburbs & estates like nairobi ,the scrapers are nice but without planning, a city is just concrete jungle, addis does not even start to compare with harare which has not seen infrastructure development since 90s,same way you can,t compare london with paris despite london having more shiny and sleek scrapers than paris, there are cities in africa that will surprise you like abidjan which is a well planned and zoned city,i find it to be the most developed city in west africa but we just here of lagos
I knew about Yamousoukro as a well planned and zoned out city but had no clue Abidjan was the same

ivory coast is a very interesting country in africa, its francophone, we english speakers don,t here much of it,its the base of french west africa just as much nairobi is the base of east and central africa, just like nairobi it grew rapidly from 60s all the way to 80s when much of west africa was being devastated by military juntas, aperthied was wrecking havoc in SA,zim then rhodhesia was under civil war, mobutu was toying with DRC,by 90s when the rest of africa was stabilizing abidjan and nairobi were pretty much ahead of the curve.
