What we all see now in Kenya can later be a political problematic movement ever experienced in EAC. We can all recall on October 16,1990 when the leader of Anti-government "Kenya Patriotic Front", Koigi Wamwere was arrested in Nairobi. The police said that, they also unearthed a cache of arms consisting of AK 47 assault rifles, ammunitions and ten stick grenades. We can also recall that day also Kinuthia was arrested as well as suspected supporters of Wamwere, including the sitting members of the parliament for Dagoreti, Chris Kamuyu and another prominent lawyer, Mirugi Kariuki. That a total of not less than 15 were rounded up in that arrest.
Now we all observe the movement conducted by NASA and in recent days we head it's leader Mr Odinga saying that it will now called NRM. Before going that far let recall some issues first. Let focus on Hutu/Tutsi divide. It was 1959/60 that the majority Hutu rose in rebellion against the ruling Tutsis who were in 1990 constituted the upper echelons of the RPFA. By that time it was estimated 250000 Rwandese were refugees in Uganda. We don't want to see this again in any EAC country. We can recall former president Moi, in Kenyatta day celebration in 1990, president Moi said, criminals and other foreign saboteurs were out to destabilize the country using the guise of advocates of political reforms. What do we see now?
At that time Kenya had a shook diplomatic relations with Norway, accusing it of supporting Kenyan dissident groups in Norway to overthrow President Moi's government. In a statement signed by Kenya's minister of foreign affairs (those times), Wilson Ndolo Ayah, Kenya claimed that Norway has for some time been hostile to her and ordered the Norwegian ambassador to close his embassy and leave within seven days. We saw that, Norway denied those allegations and requested Kenya to reconsider her decision. That was those times.
For now what we observe is HARD TIMES, AND BAD TIMES..
