New administration under Samia Suluhu gives hope after 5 years of hopelessness

Gabon has been led by one family since 1967. Riots erupted after opposition politicians alleged the 2016 presidential election was rigged. A Gabonese high court confirmed the election results. Mr. White was brought in as environment minister in 2019, following a scandal involving the disappearance of millions of dollars worth of illegally logged hardwood.

Mr. White said Gabon is considering methods to ensure therevenue from credits is managed well and transparently. It is proposing to spend around half on conservation as well as other rural and sustainable-development ventures, and the other half on debt service and government-funded areas such as education, health and infrastructure, Mr. White said.

This glorification of a lumpen one "Majaliwa" can only happen when the political class is bogged down in morass. It could also be an insidious statement of despair at dearth of leadership. The well decorated T- Shirt with this incognito until now, and the "Majaliwa" heroism may be a point in hand where a nation hunger for national idols and the political class has failed miserably to fill the void neither are our sportsmen and women!

In the aftermath of MV Bukoba capsize, the Sauzi volunteer team that came to our rescue had given us brotherly tips on how to handle similar tragedies but we were flourish in lipservice but anaemic in deeds in fulfilling our part of the deal.

Now we just paid a damning price, and our leaders have echoed what they promised in 1996, but we have a reason to be very concerned history will repeat itself!

Promises of action but ending up in inaction until hit by another tragedy then we wake up from slumber reiterating old fairies hoping nobody remembers.

We are now left with this an unenviable legacy of David vs Goliath.

It is a.....

A STORY OF TWO MAJALIWAS.

A narrative few are willing to review is a "story of two Majaliwas".

One is PM the other is "mjasiria mali."

The former when fully informed of a devastating tragedy majestically boarded a chopper - which should have been busier saving lives at the Lake Victoria shoreline- like a tourist and strolled to the calamity solving no problem despite adding substantial carbon imprint to the embattled planet while the latter with his bare knuckles and a wooden pad saved 19 souls which without his intrepid and nonpareil judgment more fatalities could have resulted.

Our God is the God of miracles. This scenario bears semblance to the Biblical David vs Goliath. David armed to teeth with five alluvial stones and a slingshot took apart a belligerent giant emblazoned with military attire and contraptions while spueing blasphemy against My Lord God Christ Jesus the Amen [emoji120].

Signs of a weak economy are growing, despite very low unemployment and surprisingly robust third-quarter earnings from U.K. companies. U.K. house prices fell in October for the first month since June 2021, according to the Nationwide Building Society, a leading mortgage lender. Company closures were close to a record high during the three months through September, as owners of construction companies, retailers and hotels and restaurants opted to shut down, according to government statistics.

Widening labor strikes might also deepen the recession as workers begin to press for pay rises that match inflation. Transportation workers have been staging one-day walkouts for months, with the latest action closing London’s metro on Thursday. And for the first time in its history, members of the U.K.’s nursing union have voted to go on strike.

Adding to pressure on the economy, the government plans next week to announce a series of tax increases and spending cuts to narrow a shortfall in government finances following years of borrowing during the pandemic, as well as a new subsidy program to protect households and businesses from crippling energy bills. The tax rises and reduced government spending will deepen the downturn by hurting demand further, economists say.
