Mr. President,
The Kenyan diaspora comprising of 42 tribes, 150 ethnic groups, and Kenyan friends worldwide, we have been following closely recent happenings in Kenya from September 14, 2022, just a day after your swearing in, to date. This includes extra judicial killings, high cost of living, and lack of transparency and accountability. Following the completion of the 2022 general elections and subsequent government formation, some critical happenings have taken place and as such we have been compelled to come together and decide to take some measures to help guide our country to the right direction. These matters are of utmost importance and should be handled with the due urgency they deserve. Failure to adhere to these concerns, the diaspora globally will take action as from August 1st, 2023, that will ensure that not only peace has prevailed but a transitional government by the military will be in place as the country will prepare for elections to choose a new president.
Mr. President below are our ten irreducible demands that must be fulfilled by July 31, 2023, Midnight.
1. We demand that, the controversial finance bill be vacated. A mutually agreed upon bipartisan financial bill to be formulated by financial experts for the fiscal year.
2. We demand that, following the corruption scandal involving ministers: -
a) Mr. Moses Kuria - maize, cooking oil, and Sugar importation theft, Moses Kuria to be removed from office and prosecuted in the court of law.
b) Aisha Jumwa - Ksh19 million fraud case where she is accused of taking part in unlawful transactions in the Malindi National Government Constituency Development Fund. She be removed from the office.
C) NHIF – All eight directors be put under justice for prosecution.
3. We demand that, all tariffs for electricity, cooking gas, and petrol be removed immediately to bring the cost of petrol to Ksh.120 a litre.
4. We demand that, food importation to be transparent and private quality assurance corporations to be allowed to independently test the imported food before human consumption. All taxes imposed on food commodities from Sept 2023 be revoked.
5. We demand that, the 2022 general elections servers to be opened and made public. This will legitimate your victory and assure Kenyans and the world that the elections were free and fair.
6. We demand that, all key government appointments be audited by private sector and appointments to depict the 42 Kenyan tribes as per the constitution
7. We demand that, all foreign loans be made public as Wananchi is the payer of such loans and ought to know what he owes and for what project. All the memorandum of understanding entered (MOU), and all related documents to be made public.
8. We demand that, all major parastatals shareholders to be made public and the number of shares. Such as Kenya airways, The port of Mombasa, The SGR, Safaricom, Mumias sugar, Sony Sugar, and Pan Paper mills. Who owns what? Else we boycott the services from October as well.
9. We demand that, formation of IEBC leadership nominations be made transparent and accountable. This is root cause of many issues Kenya is facing and concerns are high. The diaspora must have a commissioner included and a diaspora CS appointed from the diaspora community.
10. We demand that, Media be given maximum freedom. Media to be allowed immediately to visit Shakahola and tell Kenya’s the true story behind the killings where it is believed that over 1000 people were killed, and their organs sold.
This is the voice of the concerned diaspora for Kenya. These concerns must be taken extremely serios.
Failure to respond or adhere to these demands.
1. We shall have all diaspora community not to remit any money to Kenya as from August 1st, 2023.
