As much as we wish to have a proactive president it seems we may have to settle for a very reactive one.
She cannot see a calamity coming until she hears an outcry of her draconian policies. The wise foresee trouble before it knocks on a door and beforehand prepare plans to avert it. They never brew it themselves and then look out for ways to calm it.
We forewarned her Mwigulu Nchemba was not qualified to man such an important ministry but our advice fell on to deaf ears now she must prepare to massively rig the elections of 2025. She cannot change the dynamics of political narratives NOW as she just happens to be too late. Everybody knows she is not running the show but political mercenaries of hire are. The plane has already taken off without her, and therefore she cannot pilot it from without. She is now a mere spectator and will never assume her pilot duties from a position of moral authority. This is not a pilotless plane so our hopes lie with Our Maker only.
She will never have a second chance. And, yet this is sad to witness the way she is taking for granted our goodwill and squander a golden opportunity to write her name in golden ink in our history books. All her political fortunes are now water under the bridge but she can begin to reassert herself with embracing a new constitutional order which we seriously doubt she has that calibre of wisdom to do so....the whole political strategy founded by Shujaa wa Chato that is encapsulated in the utopian thinking that all the people needs is economic development is what drives this administration into a "tax and spend" regime MINUS individual freedoms...it is a dumb idea, Nyerere tried it and failed what makes her think she is brighter than him?
It was so easy yet she chose to listen to the dumber JK who has nothing tangible to offer beyond finding employment in the public sector for his cronies.
She came in office with our full support meaning she was required to dump most of her predecessor appointees associated with shujaa wa Chato dictatorial rule. She did not but went on to strenuously swear the two of them were "identical twins"!
As if this was not enough, she rejected calls for constitutional reforms citing archaic grounds such as prioritising economic development before political pluralism. Nyerere applied the same tactics and the economy rebuked him. The lesson there was without individual rights there will be no economic prosperity. Shockingly, she seemed to believe Shujaa wa Chato was replete with visionaries which in its own right is a tragicomedy.
Instead of embracing constitutional reforms as part of comprehensive economic pluralism, she opted for repression as means of ephemeral political "survival". So we loudly declare BECAUSE she did not have a perfect heart before God we project she will not prosper.
Public policy should not be held hostage by greed and vagaries of mob duress. It must be carved from logic and commonsense. For example, asking herself who gains when investment is taxed? Are we not slaying the goose that is laying us golden eggs? Is there any semblance of solidarity when we condemn the poor to abysmal poverty under the ruses of "solidarity and loyalty to motherland" blah blah?
The proponents of overtaxing the poor are part of the problem and never part of the solution. As proportional of the GDP, our politicians are ridiculously overpaid pressing pressure of an adoption of higher tax regimes. They brazenly urge the poor to meekly accept heavy burden of taxation which they are not willing to lift with their smallest finger. They can lead by example by explaining of what this solidarity is all about by advocating for a 50% reduction of their wages, revocation of their sitting allowances and abolishment of the CDF sleazy kitty since that money is needed for strategic projects. Why do you keep drawing huge salaries, sitting allowances and CDF sleazy kitty when you know we need all the money we can collect to pay for "miradi ya kimkakati"?
