"This is a great day for our country. You very well know that we have quite a number of unsolved cases. The new machinery will not only make our investigation work easier, but parentage testing as well," he divulged during his address.

  • He went on to assure that he was committed to further boosting the department's capacity, as per instructions from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The 3500xL Genetic Analyzer, which cost Ksh40 million, is the world's current ultimate forensic evidence collection equipment & will expedite the adjudication of criminal cases & paternity disputes.
Government Chemist, Ali Gakweli, further revealed that the department was now working around the clock to clear up the countless cases that had piled up over the years.
“The new machine can handle 24 stains within 45 minutes and this means the output is enhanced,” he stated.
Inspector-General of Police, Hilary Mutyambai was also present at the event, where plans to set up a new government laboratory in Isiolo, to tackle crimes in the country's northern corridor, was announced.
