Kijana, ebu jaribu kutumia brain yako mwenyewe bila kutegemea kichwa cha mtu mwingine Unapopewa Quiz jaribu kujibu maswali wewe binafsi.

Ngoja nijikumbushe enzi zangu nilivyokuwa mkali wa HGL miaka ya 2006 Stress simply means the degree of force exerted in a certain syllable within a word or the degre of force exerted in a word within a sentence.when we speak some words or syllables are stressed hence we do not speak with uniform sound.Note that, english stress is not predictable while Swahili stress is predictable. This means that stress in english can appear in different syllables but same word depending the meaning intended.Shifting of stress from one syllable to another in english also changes word category.Example a word "Sacrifice" can be used as noun or verb, depending stress position in a sense that if you put stress at the first syllable you will get noun but if you put it stress at the last but one s yllable(ya pili kutoka mwisho)you will get verb.Unlike to kiswahili whereby stress is always predictable since it appear to the last but one syllable(ya pili kutoka mwisho)of almost all swahili words with the exeption of few like barabara

[TD="class: DEFINITION"]phoneme is a distinguishing speech sound. British English has about 44 phonemes; 24 consonants and 20 vowels or speech sounds while American English has about 39 sound 24 consonants and 15 vowels. phonemes are represented with special symbols which we may call phonemic transcription = a writing system for representing speech sounds that omits phonetic details that can be predicted by general rules. Each distinctive speech sound of a language is represented with a unique symbol or combination
of symbols. look for linguistic books in your library
