Jana ndege mpya kubwa aina ya AIR BUS imezinduliwa na kampuni ya Fast Jet yenye uwezo wa kubeba abiria 150-200.
Ni jambo zuri na la kusifiwa sana,sasa tatizo ni nauli kati ya makampuni hayo hapo juu. Precision wanatoza zaidi ya Tsh 350,000 safari ya kwenda Mwanza na Kurudi DAR, Wakati Fast JET ukiwahi kukata ticketi nauli ya kwenda na kurudi ni chini ya Tsh 100,000.
Fast Jet wamezindua safari yao jana na safari rasmi itaanza kesho tarehe 29/11/2012. Kwa tofauti hizo za nauli bishara itakuwaje kwa makampuni hayo? Fast Jet watamudu ushindani au watakuwa kama Community Air Line? Precision ataendelea kupata wateja kama kawaida? Nauli ya mabasi toka Mwz hadi Dar ni Tsh 80,000 kwa kwenda na kurudi na unafika saa nne usiku upande wao kibiashara itakuwaje?

Kwa wale wanaolinganisha FastJet na Community air- sio sahihi kabisa. Anthony Diallo didn't do his homework properly kabla ya kuanza hiyo biashara and most crucially, hakuwa na experience kwenye aviation industry.
Founder wa FastJest - Sir Stelios- ni guru wa hizi low carrier. Yeye mwenyewe (Sir Stelios) ameenda shule - ya kueleweka. He is very good kwenye Finance na ana experience sana kwenye aviation industry. Tukumbuke huyu bwana ndiye alianzisha Easyjet. Sasa hivi Easyjest wana wanaenda zaidi ya nchi 30! Kwa mwaka mmoja tu EasyJet anasafirisha si chini ya 50 million passengers!
Pia Easyjet wako listed kwenye London Stock Exchange. Hana magumashi huyu bwana. FastJet itatumia business model hiyo hiyo ya EasyJet - no frills. Hakuna mambo ya juice -juice na vimikate au sijui vikorosho vya bure, kama unataka kula unalipa! Na pia ana very 'lean' administration. Wateja wanakuwa encouraged ku-book flight kupitia website au hata simu. Hii inapunguza gharama za uendeshaji - ambazo mwisho wa siku zinaishia kwa mteja!
Jambo jingine, FastJet kama ilivyo EasyJet, mteja anapata unafuu kwenye bei kama uta-book mapema. Kuna peak & off-peak prices. Mfano mtu anayesafiri saa 4 asubuhi anaweza kulipa zaidi kuliko anayesafiri saa 12 jioni, hata kama watasafiri siku hiyo hiyo. Uzuri ukifanya booking kupitia website yao unapata options nyingi (including bei/time dates). Pengine hii itatusaidia sisi Watanzania kuwa more organised - kupanga ratiba mapema badala ya kuishi kwa mtindo wa zima moto!
Kwa wale wanaosubiri FastJet wafe kifo cha Community air, waandike maamuvu. Kwanza tuone jinsi huyu Sir Stelios alivyoingia kwenye soko. Ameanza East Africa - specifically Tanzania - kwa kununua shares zote za 540. That means amenunua routes/customer base yote ya 540! (market entry). Badala ya kuweka base Nairobi - yeye kaja moja kwa moja Dar. why? Kwa sababu Bongo ndio kuna UKAME zaidi wa usafiri wa anga. Kenya wana Kenya Airways. Hapa bongo ni Prescion na mdundiko wake wa delays!
Kenya Airways waliposikia huyu FastJest inakuja (na wanajua fujo za Sir Stelios) walianza low-cost service - haraka. Leseni ya low-cost ilitoka kama miezi 2 hivi iliyopita. Hawakukaa chini na kuongea kama 'Tomaso', badala yake walianza kujiandaa kwa mazingira ya ushindani.
Jambo jingine, FastJet inaonekana ku-concentrate kwenye routes za kwenye natural resources. Mipango iliyopo ni kwamba, ataanza na Tanzania, Kenya & Ugana, lakini baadae ataongeza routes Angola, Ghana etc. Sijui Community air alikuwa na mipango gani?
How about Air Tanzania.
Sasa hivi Tanzania imeshaingia kwenye ukurasa wa nchi zenye gas, uranium na madini mengine. Big boys wako mjini. Serikali kuendelea kufanya biashara itatugharimu. Air Tanzania bado inaendeshwa na wanasiasa! Mkurugenzi anateuliwa na rais, tena bila interview yoyote! So far hakuna la maana linaloendelea na ujio wa wazee wa kazi kama FastJet unahitaji new thinking toka serikalini.
Kwa mtazamo wangu, Air Tanzania ivunjwe (kabisa), na kuundwa shirika jipya. Serikali iwe ni shareholder lakini wawepo wanahisa wengine. Mambo ya presidential appintee yaishe. Mkurugenzi/wakurugenzi wapatikane kupitia njia za ushindani. Tofauti na hapo, Dr Mwakyembe afunge office za ATCL, na aelekeze hela kuboresha viwanja vya ndege ili wazee wa kazi warushe ndege, na kama kuna change aboreshe usafiri wa Train.
And to the old bag - Precision air
Your time is up, review your business model -haraka. Bad mouthing is not a business model! Mtindo wa kuacha wateja airport wakipiga miayo siku nzima ukome. Even as we speak fungua websites za Precision na FastJet and you will see the difference! FastJet, naweza ku-book flight sasa hivi na nikapata jibu including muda wa kulipia. Lakini Precision website, hata kufunguka ni shida tupu!

Nikashangaa inakuaje KLM ameshika soko la north america na huduma zake mbovu.. Usipo book mapema unaambiwa ndege imejaa wakati turkish, qatar, kwa bei nafuu wana huduma nzuri lakini ndege hawajazi

Nakubaliana na wewe kabisa on experience, but one thing you should remember is wapandaji wa ndege sometimes have preferences which is more than just price and experience of the airliners.
Kuna loyality, kwa mfano Asians will prefer to travel with Asian flights, the same to Europeans and Americans. The choice of flights also depend on the number of destinations, the more the better. These two cases apply very much to KLM.
So, however much fastjet atatoa competition kwa precision air, since they both pay the same airport service charges like precision, bado they will still have a hard time first to build loyalty, second to increase number of airlines and third the number of destinations. What they are doing now is 'market entry'.
But, bei ya flight zao ikiwa chini sana many people who could not afford to take a flight will do so, which although in a way is good, but this will bring nuisance and most frequent flyers will not like or will become more selective, perhaps.
But under the current business environment, the only way, may be, which could be possible for fastjet to challenge precision air is to have new and fuel efficient flights with atleast a reasonable margin compared to precision air flights. Otherwise, they will operate under loss or somehow whatever the choice they make, precision can afford to conform.
Unfortunately, market environment in Africa is very small, fragile and unreliable not like Europe, perhaps because of low purchasing power and different product mind set. So, anything can happen.
