Following speculation that Apson Mwang'onda and Lowasa have been strategising to make sure that the latter becomes president in 2015 general elections, some reporters made the effort of clarifying the matter by getting in touch with the two and James Mbatia who is also claimed to be involved.
Raia Mwema newspaper ran the story on August 20, in which Mbatia neither refuted nor acknowledged his involvement as instead of clarifying the allegations he merely said politics have morphed into gossips, lies and backstabbing. He also denied having been given money to compensate his party's MPs allowances that they are missing out on for not attending the Constituent Assembly.
On the other hand, Lowassa didn't answer the reporter's call, which implies that he was avoiding to address the allegations.
Apson who is TISS former Director said the allegations are ridiculous and that the claims aim at tanishing Lowassa's reputation. He further said that he is a free agent so he can choose whose team to support. Regarding been Chairman of Lowasa's committee he said he wasn't... adding that even if he were it doesn't matter
