Hapa imembidi rais wa Ufaransa kuwa mpole na kukubali kwamba kufikia 2021 tutasafiri kwa reli kutoka uwanja wa kimataifa wa JKIA hadi mjini kati, rais Uhuru hakumumunya maneno, tayari wameingia makubalano hayo.

French President Emmanuel Macron has bowed to President Uhuru Kenyatta's pressure to speed up the completion of the JKIA-Nairobi Commuter Rail project.

Uhuru was speaking at the One Planet Summit at the UN Complex Gigiri on Thursday, where he urged the French president to ensure that the contractors finish the job in two years rather than the proposed 10.

“Lecture them to finish the project in two years and not ten,” President Uhuru told Macron.

“Our target is to have 500,000 urban commuters moving freely daily within the next 12 months. This number will grow to over a million commuters daily within the next five years,” he added.

President Macron yielded and stated that he would follow up with those in charge and make them adhere to Uhuru's deadline.

“By the end of 2021, this new connection will be possible,” the French Head of State reassured.


  • He expressed confidence that the firms were well equipped to undertake the project.
    President Macron cited the firm's experience adding that they would offer both software and hardware to the project.
    He promised to work with Kenya to provide mobility solutions for Nairobi. Both presidents recognised that trade between the two countries would be a win-win situation.
    Another deal, which will cost over Ksh180 Billion, will be the establishment of a modern highway from Nairobi into the Mau regions.

Ujuzi wa kisasa hauruhusu uzembe.
 
Kenya should have rather contracted Tanzania to build their commuter rail... It would have taken nearly six months to be complete... We as a country have an expertise in project management... And we could do it cheaply!

MK254 unapotaka kutetea jambo likuhusulo basi unajitoa mhanga wa utetezi. Sorry Kwani hiyo project inagharimu kiasi gani? Na hiyo 10 means miaka au miezi, na kama kutoka Mombasa hadi Nairobi imechukua miaka michache kuliko hiyo JKIA to Nairobi Je ina kipi cha ziada? Ina urefu gani?

Thats why macron said 10, he knows what they agreed on paper is just cooperation not contracts..But since Uhuru wants to save face and make it seem like something concrete was signed he forces 2 years, macron being a gentleman just plays along and avoid embarassing his host

Kupitisha reli Nairobi kati ni shughuli sio haba, kuna mazagazaga mengi ya kufumua, hivyo Macron anaweza akawa na pointi, ila wakikomaa kama alivyoamrisha Uhuru, watafanya kwa miaka michache.
Kwani BRT iliwachukua miaka mingapi, nakumbuka iliwachukua zaidi ya miaka mitano na hapakua na kikubwa cha kuchimbua maana barabara ilikuwepo tayari, hamkuingia kwenye makazi ya watu wala kushusha chochote cha maana.

I suggest you make a catalogued hard copy file of all your comments here, to avoid contradicting yourself every five minutes. While you are at it, it will also be prudent and wise to invest in an English dictionary. So you can easily distinguish the difference between simple nouns like neo-colonialist, conman and gentleman. I won't charge you even a cent for this advice.
