Eighteen years unbeaten at home against Espanyol
NEWS | 08/01/2015 | JAVIER GARCÍA
Real Madrid have recorded 15 victories and three draws in the Bernabéu against the Catalan outfit in La Liga.
Real Madrid will play their first game of 2015 in the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday (4pm CET). The Whites play hosts to Espanyol, an opponent who they have picked up good results against over the last few seasons. You have to go all the way back to the 1995/96 season to find their last slip up at home. Since then, they have gone 18 years unbeaten against the Catalan side.
This run began on 1 October 1996, when Raúl and Suker secured a 2-0 win. Since then, Real Madrid have recorded 15 wins and three draws against Espanyol in the Santiago Bernabéu in La Liga. During the last league campaign, the Whites won 3-1 thanks to a Bale goal and a Morata brace. As well as the league clash, the Catalan team travelled to the Madrid ground in the Copa, where Jesé sealed a 1-0 victory.
