Mastour may be the next

MILAN PLAYER FITS THE BILL PERFECTLY FOR REAL MADRID

Now that the signing of Ødegaard is a done thing, the higher-ups at the Bernabéu have set their sights on another shining starlet. Next in line comes Hachim Mastour, one of A.C. Milan's young promises.

The 16-year-old Italian/Moroccan forward plays for Milan's B-team, although he has been called up to Filippo Inzaghi's A team on five occasions so far this season. Unfortunately, he was not given the chance to make his official debut wearing the 'Rossoneri' shirt. He has been able to do so, however, in a friendly. Mastour played in the Trofeo Luigi Berlusconi 2014 game against San Siro last 5th November.

The young player, who is a magician with the ball at his feet, is known for his remarkable physical presence, his fluid dribbling and his powerful shot on goal. Such qualities have not gone unnoticed by the scouts of the European big guns. Barcelona had a go at nabbing him last year, but Adriano Galliani was having none of it and the boy stayed put.

Now it is Real Madrid's turn to have a go at reeling him in. Mastour is just what Real are after and fits perfectly with the club's current signing policy. He's young, talented, with a great future ahead of him and is ready to take on the responsibilities that defending Real's colours supposes. After Asensio, Ødegaard and Peeters, he might be next.

Illarramendi gets the heave-ho

REAL MADRID READY TO STRIKE ATHLETIC DEAL

Real Madrid are ready to show Asier Illarramendi the door. The move for Lucas Silva can leave the midfielder in no doubt about his future prospects, although the former Real Sociedad player has been given a few days to get used to the idea that perhaps the time has come to leave.

It is not something he had been planning, but it looks like he is out of options. 'Los Blancos' did not even wait for a firm offer from Athletic de Bilbao to come in for Illarra which, as revealed by MARCA on Wednesday, is for a sum of close to €25 million.

The deal for Silva is all but done, which seems to signal that the next step will be to sit down with Athletic to negotiate Asier's transfer and see if the Bilbao outfit is really prepared to stump up the cash.

The offer Athletic have put on the table represents an all-time club record. Moreover, should the transfer go ahead at top whack, it would be more than double their most expensive signing yet, which currently stands at the €12 million paid to Betis in 1997 for Roberto Ríos.

The 24-year-old anchorman has featured on Athletic's most-wanted list for some time now and, indeed, they were keen to sign him last summer. Real paid Real Sociedad €32 million, a price tag Athletic could never have considered, and Sociedad would not have let him go for less. The Bilbao club is now, however, in a position to negotiate a better price.

Lucas Silva to Real for €14m

For all intents and purposes, Lucas Silva can now be referred to as a Real Madrid player.

While the toing and froing of the various documents concerning the deal between the two clubs went on, Marcio Rodrigues, Cruzeiro's vice-president, admitted that he had finally thrown in the towel and accepted the situation: "The deal has been done; there's nothing that we can do".

He's right. Finally, Real have managed to sign the player, despite Cruzeiro's attempts to the contrary. The Brazilian club's directors did all in their power to prevent their promising midfielder from leaving them. Real
Madrid tried to buy the player on three occasions (August and December last year and now) and were always met with difficulties. Cruzeiro's answer was always the same: €15 million of forget it. Real first offered €10 million plus €2 million for objectives met but were turned down flat. Finally, the price has been set at €14 million to be given in two separate payments, according to the magazine 'Placar'.

The player will undergo the customary medical tests on Monday in Madrid at the Clínica Sanitas. After that, Lucas will be officially presented at the Bernabéu. The new Real player has signed for six and a half seasons.

It is not as yet clear if the newbie will be posing with a shirt with his usual number 16 on the back. Fate would have it that this number is the same as the young Martin Ødegaard wears.

James Rodríguez returned to normal training after two sessions apart from the group. The player will be ready for the game against Córdoba, but he is concerned. The Colombian believes that he is subject to a lot of dirty tackles and has had enough. The knocks he has received in the last games have forced him to rest up and spend a spell on the physio's table in an attempt to keep the repercussions of such punishment to a minimum.

James, who came to Spain after having played in the Portuguese and French leagues, doesn't understand why he is subject to such stick. He hasn't been able to get through a single game without a rival player leaving his mark on him. Of course, he is also aware that the way he plays may leave him more open to such abuse. He's a player with a fine touch. He likes to keep the ball close to his feet, meaning that he is more likely to get hurt. What he is surprised at is how Spanish football can be so physical, so tough – the player was expecting a game more like his own, more technical and less aggressive.

Looking at the hard facts, the Colombian is the player that receives the second most fouls out of the Real Madrid team. So far this season, he has been fouled 28 times, only 'outdone' by Toni Kroos, who has been fouled 35 times by his rivals. The Colombian's position on the pitch, closer to the halfway line than the goal area also leave him more open to the rough stuff, as such fouls are not so dangerous for Real's rivals.

Illarra Can't see His Way Clear To Athletic

Just as Lucas Silva is getting ready to pack his bags in Brazil, all eyes now turn to Asier Illarramendi. Once Real Madrid have secured the Brazilian's services, a place will then have to be found for him in the team. This task won't be made any easier if Illarramendi can't see his way clear to Athletic, the club that put in an offer for him just a few days ago.

Illarramendi is not exactly thrilled at the prospect of going to Athletic, however. With that scenario in mind, Real Madrid plan to sit down with him once Lucas Silva's transfer has been made official. It will most likely be a relaxed meeting and the club will try and explain the situation in the wake of the Brazilian's signing. Illarramendi won't be put under pressure or forced into a tight spot. Real Madrid will simply try and convince him to go to Athletic, but it will be down to the player himself to make the final decision. Therefore, it is quite possible that Illarramendi will opt to stay put, at least until June.

It's not that the player is completely against leaving Real Madrid, but more that he wants to make the right decision - especially as there'll be no going back. He's well aware that if Lucas Silva joins Real Madrid the Brazilian will most likely deprive him of the little playing time he's currently getting. All this must be taken into consideration before the final decision is made.
