Meanwhile, the Parliamentary candidate in Bukoba Urban constituency on a Civic United Front (CUF) ticket, Mr Christian Kasimbazi, has prioritised education and health as burning issues he would address if he is elected MP.
Mr Kasimbazi made the pledge when addressing a campaign meeting at Nyamkazi area, in Miembeni Ward on Wednesday afternoon. He said CUF was committed to revamping the education sector by improving teaching environment and providing incentives to teachers.
"We have set aside enough funds to construct teachers' houses. CUF would also ensure that teachers in the country are paid good salaries to enable them work in a conducive environment," he said.
Mr Kasimbazi, who is himself a long-serving teacher, said he understands problems facing them and would assist in finding a lasting solution.
