Inspector-General of Police David Kimaiyo.
Senators are calling for the sacking of security chiefs over increased insecurity.
They lawmakers are unhappy with Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph ole Lenku and Inspector-General of Police David Kimaiyo, saying they had failed.
In a statement read by Senate Security Committee vice-chairperson Fatuma Dullo (Nominated, URP) the senators expressed displeasure with the management of security in Kenya.
They reacted angrily to Mr Lenku's remarks that he was not aware that security staff in the ongoing arms mop-up in Kapedo were harassing residents and destroying property.
OFFICERS KILLED
Mr Lenku said that the operation would not be halted until all the firearms and bullets stolen from 19 AP officers killed in the area a few weeks ago are recovered.
Senator Boni Khalwale (Kakamega, UDF) said the police boss should be dismissed for deploying inexperienced police officers to pursue hard-core criminals in such a rough terrain.
Prof John Lonyangapuo (West Pokot, Kanu) said: "It is unfortunate that the ministry is taking the matter casually, yet innocent Kenyans are suffering. This is wrong and must stop."
"Let us also be concerned about the officers who were killed," said Senator Dullo.
