Safaricom beats expectations as profit soars 20% to $550M

Free Whatsapp is a matter of perception. You must first buy a bundle for you to get that free Whatsapp or FB.
And everything 'free' has a catch. Most likely they cap the speeds drastically.

Bundles always offer the superior experience, and in my experience, once you've exhausted the bundles and entered the 'free fb' phase, more often than not you're forced to buy more gb to return to normal speeds.

Plus on Tigo I've seen the free stuff comes starting with the weekly bundle. Watu wengi ni wa reja reja, buying bundles daily.
In short, Tanzanians spend the same or slightly less than Kenyans for internet.
The Safaricom 'High' pricing you've been mentioning as reason for its profit has just been in your imagination. It is only slightly higher than your Tigo and Vodacom.

1Gb @ 99 for 1 day, that is not a tarrif. A tarrif is minimum 30 days billing cycle atleast a per CAK rules

You can call it what you want.
The same way Sh50 for 150 MBs (non-expiring) has been around for like 10 years now.
Sh99 for 1gb (for 24 hours) is the newest and will go on for a long time before a downward review.

Boss, I have a safaricom line since 2001, when they came in circular metal boxes. 50bob for 150 mb is a daily expiring tarrif I know what am talking about, Minimum monthly Tarrif is 1k for 3 Gb. 3 times for what you get in Tz

And don't forget voice is Safaricom's biggest revenue source.

If you're not on any packaged plan (pay as yo go), you pay KSh4 peak and KSh2 off peak
By comparison, Airtel Tanzania charges KSh10 peak and KSh7.8 off-peak (Almost triple Safaricom)
Tigo charges KSh16 on-net calls and KSh21 for off-net calls. (4 - 10 times Safaricom)

I've not even researched on the packages because they are so many. But there are some where Safaricom gives you like 1000 minutes, unlimited SMS, restaurant discounts etc.

If Tanzania is like Kenya, most customers do not even bother with these monthly or weekly packages. They just load airtime and make calls, meaning a majority of Tanzanians are being ripped off by those prices.

Clearly you have no idea what you're saying.
Just because they've called it a daily bundle doesn't mean it expires after 24 hours.
It is the most common bundle I buy, and sometimes I have it for 2 weeks. (Because I'm always on Wi-Fi).
Expiry date is 12/31/2036. Can send you a screenshot but I'm typing this on desktop.
