The High Court has removed Safaricom Ltd from a case filed against the company and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission by the Cord Coalition.
Cord filed the case against IEBC and Safaricom yesterday seeking to have the court compel the two to release documents related to an election petition challenging the election results in which Jubilee alliance's Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner of the presidential race.
Safaricom has agreed to release all the documents it has related to the concluded election during a hearing this morning. IEBC argued that producing all the documents that Cord had asked for their petition would present challenges.
The court adjourned the hearing at 9.30am to allow the three parties to discuss how the documents can be released within a timeframe that would allow Cord to file its petition by March 16.
The hearing will resume at 11.30 am where Cord will present to the court the items it has been given by Safaricom Ltd and the IEBC and tell the court what items it is yet to receive from the two parties.
