First Lady Mama Salma Kikwete
First Lady Salma Kikwete has called on ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM)s Women Wing (UWT) to stand firm and condemn slanderous remarks uttered by leaders of opposition parties against CCM.
Speaking with UWT members in Dodoma region recently, she said UWT had a right to defend their party against the untoward remarks.
You should not keep quiet because you too have a right to respond to anything said about your leaders and party since the government belongs to everybody, she said.
The first lady said she hated the type of politics conducted by opposition party against the ruling party and its government. She explained that what the opposition party was doing was to spread false rumours and convince the world that they won last years general election.
They want to tell the world that they won the general election. The opposition party won by 20 per cent, did that percentage make it really win? she asked.
She asked if CCM got 60 per cent how come the rival party which obtained only 20 per cent could claim victory? She said such claims might just cause hatred and instigate chaos in the country.
She explained that CCM had no time to engage in empty debate but would rather concentrate on bringing about development to people.
She said ongoing reforms in the party did not aim at removing any old members from the party but only at striking a balance between old and new members so as to help the party move forward with renewed ferocity.
