AmaZulu & Sekhukhune Swap Deal Hangs In Balance

A swap deal between AmaZulu and Sekhukhune United for Rally Bwalya and Victor Letsoalo hangs in balance, even though the latter already passed his medical at Usuthu on Monday.

Both clubs are understood to have agreed to an outright swap deal after both players failed to live up to lofty expectations at their new sides.

Letsoalo scored five goals in 32 appearances for Babina Noko and famously caused the crucial penalty against them in the Nedbank Cup final, while Bwalya racked up 23 appearances, scoring once for AmaZulu.

The two clubs had agreed on an outright swap deal for both players – with Brandon Truter keen to reunite with the Zambia international he signed for Usuthu from Simba SC, while Letsoalo was told he was no longer part of Sekhukhune’s long-term plans.

However, there is a hold-up on Bwalya’s side, who has been at loggerheads with Usuthu management over minor technicalities surrounding a percentage of his sign-on fee, which is due this month.

But the minor issues between the two parties look set to be resolved, with both players keen on having fresh new start to their careers for the 2023/24 season.

This website understands, if the issue cannot be sorted out, AmaZulu are expected to buy Letsoalo outright as Babina Noko look to recoup a fee close to the around R5 million they paid for his services from Royal AM. While Sekhukhune will in-turn look to negotiate a transfer fee for the playmaker – which is said to be the last resort to complete the respective switches.

Bwalya came to South Africa after reaching the CAF Confederations Cup semi-final with Simba SC in 2021/22, where they got knocked out by Orlando Pirates.

Meanwhile, Letsoalo had a stellar 2021/22 campaign, scoring 17 goals across all competitions for Royal AM.
