Russian troops seize hundreds of weapons in Velikaya Novosyolka in Donbass region

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russian troops seized hundreds of weapons during battles for the liberation of the community of Velikaya Novosyolka in the south of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the gunner with the call sign Talysh from the 5th Brigade of Russia’s Battlegroup East told TASS on Monday.

"Indeed, the number of arms found in Novosyolka runs into hundreds. These include mines of all sorts and Javelins [anti-tank weapon systems]. They [Ukrainian troops] had plenty of these weapons. This is because half of the world assists them, as you can understand," the serviceman said.

The trophies also included NATO mines previously unknown to Russian troops, he added.

Velikaya Novosyolka residents helped Russian forces spot Ukrainian positions, officer says

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Residents of Velikaya Novosyolka in the south of the Donetsk People's Republic helped Russian fighters detect Ukrainian positions and firing points, commander of an assault company of a Marines battalion at the battlegroup East told TASS.

"Of course, they were waiting [for Russian forces]. When meeting with local residents, boys from the assault unit shared water and food with them. Also the locals showed the main strongpoints of the enemy. Where they are and how many. They also showed routes, roads, the spots that are rigged with mines. The locals helped the boys in every possible way <...> to move forward," said the commander known under the call sign Ryazan.

Ukrainian forces kill 15 of their own for refusing to fight in Velikaya Novoselka

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. /TASS/. Fifteen Ukrainian soldiers were shot and killed by their fellow servicemen for refusing to fight against Russian troops in Velikaya Novoselka in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a marine assault company commander with Russia’s Battlegroup East told TASS.

"Several Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoner during the storming of the settlement. During interrogation, they disclosed the firing positions and main defense areas of the enemy. Moreover, they said that there were some in the 110th brigade that refused to enter into combat with us. Around 15 men were brought to a basement under the supervision of senior Ukrainian servicemen. During fighting in the central part of Velikaya Novoselka, we found this basement, and inside were the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers," the commander with the call sign Ryazan said.

At least 500 Ukrainian troops die in Velikaya Novoselka — commander

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Around 500 Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the northeastern part of Velikaya Novoselka, located in the southern area of the Donetsk People's Republic, the commander of an assault company of the marine infantry battalion of the Battlegroup East with the call sign Ryazan told TASS.

"About half a thousand Ukrainian servicemen were killed in the northeastern part [of Velikaya Novoselka]," the commander said, adding that some of them died while attempting to escape from the settlement.

On January 26, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that units of the 5th Guards Separate Tank Brigade of the 36th Army and the 40th Guards Marine Infantry Brigade of the Battlegroup East had liberated the village of Velikaya Novoselka.

Ukrainian soldiers surrender in Velikaya Novosyolka in Donetsk region

BLAGODATNOYE /Donetsk People’s Republic/, January 27. /TASS/. A group of servicemen from Ukraine’s 110th separate mechanized brigade have surrendered in Velikaya Novosyolka in the southern Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), a TASS correspondent reported.

The POWs are currently safe and are receiving the necessary assistance.

On January 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the liberation of the settlement of Velikaya Novosyolka as a result of an active offensive by units from the 5th Guards Tank Brigade, subordinate to the 36th Combined Arms Army, and the Battlegroup East’s 40th Naval Infantry Brigade.

Russian forces cut off Ukrainian army’s logistics near Krasnoarmeisk, says DPR head

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russian forces have focused on denying the Ukrainian army its logistics supplies near the settlement of Krasnoarmeisk (called Pokrovsk by Ukraine), DPR (Donetsk People’s Republic) Head Denis Pushilin said during a live broadcast on the Rossiya-24 television channel on Monday.

"As for the Kurakhovo direction, we can also see there that our units are expanding the area under their control. In the Krasnoarmeisk direction, we see that our forces continue cutting off the enemy’s supply routes and over the past few days they have focused on denying the Ukrainian regime the logistics possibility," he said.

The settlement of Velikaya Novosyolka and the nearby communities liberated by Russian forces were the Ukrainian army’s most fortified area in the south Donetsk direction, he added.

"We also see that our troops are advancing in Dzerzhinsk [called Toretsk by Ukraine]. We see that the Toretskaya coalmine is the enemy’s last stronghold where adversary forces remain but the situation is changing literally every day and we see the advance by our units," Pushilin said.
