Russia’ special operation has every chance to reach Transnistria — French expert
MOSCOW, January 2. /TASS/. Russia has all chances to establish control of the territory of Novorossiya up to Transnistria within the framework of the special military operation, Regis Chamagne, a French Air Force colonel, Commander of the Legion of Honor and holder of the National Order of Merit, has told Stratpol.
"It is obvious to me that the special military operation will not stop until the goals stated by Russia have been achieved," he said. "In Europe many people today are talking about a ceasefire, but Russia needs peace, not a ceasefire. After all, a ceasefire can be used by the West to rearm Ukraine and the whole of Europe. That is why Russia will go to the end in achieving its main goal - demilitarization of Ukraine. As for territorial gains, I think Russia will take all of Novorossiya up to Transnistria."
Chamagne added that Ukrainian men were now being chased on the streets and sent to fight "as cannon fodder."
"There are ever more frequent mutinies in the Ukrainian army units, which tend to surrender," the analyst said. "Among those being caught on the streets by [Vladimir] Zelensky's military police, there are many Russian speakers, Russophiles. Especially in Odessa and in the whole Russian-speaking part of Ukraine, which has been ostracized since 2014.".

MOSCOW, January 2. /TASS/. Russian air defenses downed a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jet in the past day, as well as six HIMARS rockets and 97 drones, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Air defenses shot down an Su-97 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force, six US-made HIMARS rockets and 97 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles," the statement reads.

▫️Units of the Vostok Group of Forces continued advancing to the depth of the enemy's defences and inflicted losses on formations of one tank brigade, three mechanised brigades, one motorised infantry brigade of the AFU, and two territorial defence brigades. In addition, 14 counter-attacks launched by the enemy's assault detachments were repelled.
The AFU losses amounted to up to 1,155 troops, two tanks, three armoured fighting vehicles, 26 motor vehicles, 23 field artillery guns, including five U.S.-made 155-mm Paladin self-propelled artillery systems.
▫️Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade, one infantry brigade of the AFU, one marine brigade, and three territorial defence brigades.
The AFU losses amounted to more than 500 troops, 30 motor vehicles, six field artillery guns, five electronic warfare stations, and five ammunition depots.
▫️Over the past week, 46 Ukrainian servicemen were taken prisoner in the line of contact.
▫️Air defence units shot down one Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force, three French-made Hammer guided aviation bombs, 33 U.S.-made HIMARS and Uragan MLRS projectiles as well as 559 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
▫️Units of the Black Sea Fleet destroyed 11 uncrewed surface vehicles.
▫️In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 651 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 39,207 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 20,208 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,505 MLRS combat vehicles, 20,163 field artillery guns and mortars, and 29,832 units of support military vehicles have been neutralised.
