Tanzania - Reli Assets Holding Company Limited (RAHCO) has initiated the tender relating to Consultancy Services for a Feasibility Study and Preliminary Design for the construction of a new railway line from Mbegani to the Central Railway Line.

This feasibility study and preliminary design tender is for the extension of the rail line from the Mbegani proposed Port to the new Ruvu/Kwala Standard Gauge marshalling yard on the Central Railway line. The railway link will have about a 30km green field between the proposed Mbegani Port (Bagamoyo) on the Indian Ocean shore, east of Tanzania and Kidomole on the existing link line to the Tanga line.

Development of the Railway link to the proposed Mbegani port (Bagamoyo) using 120lb/yd track materials of Standard Gauge will provide the following advantages:
  • Port/Rail interface
  • The provision of easy accessibility to various social services for the community along the project area and decongest the Port of Dar es Salaam.
  • The reduction in transportation costs and the increase of its reliability will facilitate movement of agricultural products from production centres to both internal and external markets and hence increase farm gate prices.
  • Facilitate movement of farm implements, promote petty business along the project area and hence increase income to communities situated along the project area.
  • Moreover, the regional character of the project will benefit countries in the region, including Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
The projected time-frame for the Services will be Six (6) calendar Months. The Railway Project area will be at Bagamoyo, Kidomole (Tanga link) line, with the distance of about 30km built to preferably AREMA latest standards (inter-operability) mainly for freight (mining, agricultural inputs and produce, etc.) and allow for the maximum speed of 120km/h for passenger, and 80km/h for freight trains.

The overall objective of this project is to promote sustainable mobility along the Central Corridor, through the construction of a new link railway line extension from Mbegani to connect with the Central corridor at Kidomole Tanga Link line. Such upgrading and construction shall lead to unlocking the Bagamoyo Port. And, as a result, External Processing Zones (EPZ) are expected to be invested in and around Bagamoyo, Tanzania – giving landlocked countries in the mineral-rich region access to the export market gate, via the port of Bagamoyo.

Mimi mwenyewe sijakubaliana hoja zilizowafanya waseme Dar itakuwa Aviation hub.
