There was drama when five men from Tseikuru location in Tharaka Nithi County lost consciousness on Friday evening after partaking a concoction prepared by two witchdoctors from Pemba in Tanzania.
The five men were among many people who had turned out to witness the 'miracles' that were being performed by the two witchdoctors.
According to Henry Muthengi, an eye witness, the two witchdoctors came all the way from Pemba Island in Tanzania following an invitation from one of the villagers who had lost his son.
He explained he had invited the witchdoctors to intervene after the search for his son had proved futile.
Upon arrival in Tseikuru, the witch doctors went to a market place where they gathered the people around.
They proceeded to prepare a concoction which Mr Muthengi says looked, in appearance and taste, like it was made from tobacco.
The witchdoctors then administered the concoction to the people who gathered around, assuring them that it would not have any effect on them if they were sure that they did not know the whereabouts of the lost son.
The first five men to take the concoction collapsed immediately, scaring those present.
Out of fear, the bystanders dispersed and, surprisingly, even the two witchdoctors took to their heels leaving the unconscious men alone.
It was after the disappearance of the witchdoctors that the residents alerted the police and the two were later arrested in Kyuso trying to
escape. They were then forced to attend to the five men who had collapsed.
The five men were then taken to hospital by the police.
