On the other hand Nairobi alone has more than 50 flyovers, overpasses and interchanges combined and others are still under construction. This is an example of flyover which getting built right now. It is not really a grant per se, the GOT had an agreement (in the 90's ) with Japanese government to buy Toyota vehicles for government use. And, one of the things they agreed on was JICA to help building infrastructure so the GOT can buy more Toyota cars and SUVs. JICA started with KAJIMA then KONOIKE and now Sumitomo Mitsui to renovate roads in CBD and suburban areas.Grants are for poor countries like Tz which has been confirmed that can't pay their loans back.

Leading the Kenyan delegation to the 7th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit in Beijing, Uhuru held talks with President Xi Jinping during which he sought assurances that half of the cost of $3.8 billion (Sh380 billion) extension of the SGR between Naivasha and Kisumu would be financed through a grant.
“I am very keen to develop the railway from Naivasha to Kisumu owing to its regional significance. I request that 50 per cent of the project be provided as part of grant financing,” said Uhuru.
