Tanzania yarudi kwa Mchina kuomba mkopo wa SGR

Tunajenga kwa hela zetu sisi wenyewe! Ilikuwa ni hit song moja kali sana.
Ati "tunajenga reli kwa fedha zetu " and then you notice the costs of the railway at $7.5bn is more than half of Tzed's annual budget. Haki afadhali Kenya bwana ,at least tunajimudu kiasi .

Hehehe!!
Mchina amewaambia wasubiri afanye tathmini kwanza.

Lazima tukubali hali kama ilivyo, Mchina ameshakubali atagharamia kipande kilichokua kimesalia kwa Kenya, hivyo sisi tayari tuna uhakika wa kuunga Uganda.

China is back as one of the potential financiers of Tanzania’s flagship standard gauge railway project, Foreign Affairs Minister Palamagamba Kabudi confirmed this past week.
“The Chinese government has declared its intention to support the SGR construction at a later stage, and is now doing its own evaluation of the project before engaging us in further talks,” Prof Kabudi said, after attending a co-ordination meeting of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing.
The SGR, stretching 1,457km from Dar es Salaam to western Tanzania, is one of the mega-infrastructure projects being touted by President John Magufuli’s government as key to its industrialisation agenda over the next decade.
The budget for the railway is $7.5 billion, with a five-year completion timeline.
Funding
Earlier plans for China’s Exim Bank to provide most of the funding for its construction fell through after the administration rejected the Chinese in favour of a Turkish-Portuguese consortium.

After that deal failed, Tanzania declared that it would pay for the project out of its own pocket. That has worked for the first two phases of the project, Dar es Salaam-Morogoro and Morogoro-Makutupora, covering 726km and costing Tsh4.89 trillion ($2.5 billion).
Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) officials say the first phase of the project (Dar-Morogoro) is two-thirds complete, and preparatory work on Phase Two (Dar-Makutupora) is underway.
However, funding has become an issue. TRC communications manager Jamila Mbarouk confirmed in an interview with The EastAfrican this past week that:
“The government is now striving hard to get some financing assistance in order to complete the remaining phases of the SGR construction, starting from Makutupora to the Lake Victoria zone and the western part of the country — covering about 731km.”
The Tanzanian parliament last month approved a Tsh2.5 trillion ($1.1 billion) allocation in the country’s 2019/20 budget for the SGR project, almost half of the entire Ministry of Works development expenditure budget for the year.
China is understood to have also told Kenya and Uganda to work on their respective financing modalities for their joint SGR project in order to receive funding.
China had initially declined to fund the project, with analysts saying the risk of default for both countries was high.

We have the right to disagree and reject unfavourable conditions.

We welcome Chinese if and only the contract will be favourable to suit themselves as well as Tanzania as a country

Just watched an update by the turkish company making their project on youtube(Published on Jun 14, 2019 ) and it seems all the completed works their government submit are hogwash and propaganda, a huge portion is still at the earthwork stage, culverts and beams. The train stations I have seen so far are all tiny and incomplete, those stations can not handle more than 1000 people at a time(I am being very generous with this figure).

A train station is not like a stadium or a church where people congregate. It's meant to let people get into trains without holding them for long.

We're expecting our first bullet trains in November. Andaa passport. Haturuhusu IDs

Ukishasoma mambo ya queuing theory na Poisson process ndio utaweza kufikiria kwa bongo!

You are quite a blubber mouth aren't you. Throwing words without understanding the meaning. Poisson processes work on unknown random events with known average time. Trains do not work that way.

The throughput of a train station is directly proportional to the infrastructure in the station. With regards to congregation you are wrong, railway stations like airports are also business hubs where people meet and interact before departures. I do not see an opportunity for more than two ticket counters and probably five or less self service machine which is not enough to serve more than 1000 passengers and knowing Tanzania, it will not have online booking

Tutakopa at the modest cost per kilometre as we now have the base of the cost per unit.

But it's not economic to build a station for 1000 passengers when it's already predicted that maximum 100 passengers will depart at any time.

Business and offices can be built by entrepreneurs near the station. It doesn't have to be part of the station itself. Moreover they can be added in future, if needed and when money to dispose is available!

That is a better start for a discussion. Okay, as a software engineer I also predict load and stress on my projects but a rule of thumb for engineering is that you always design for at least three times the predicted load, if it passes then the project is given an OK. This is meant to take care of future unplanned load.

On the second point I have no disagreement, only let down will be for travellers who want to get a quick bite, or have a sit down with family before departure. Providing at least rentable spaces for fast food is very convenient and does a lot to improve on the overall experience of the traveller.

Mnapindisha maneno.
