Tanzania’s Bank M to cross-list on Dar, Nairobi stock markets

It's not about the size but it is the kind of business they r eyeing in Kenya! Pretty sure they will make profit on the first year of entering Kenya market!
I am willing to bet that will run into trouble. Here they can't keep their staff on contract instead of on permanent basis like they do in tz. Futhermore the space here is much more robust . More innovative. Then ofcourse the regulator is more influential. People also dont trust indian banks esp with the imperial bank, dubai and chase bank ghosts still with us. They will really need to change their business model and customer value preposition to make any heading

Kafrican, tanzanian banks r not into Kenya that much! Take example of Exim bank, is in Djibouti tapping business btn Ethiopia n djibouti at Port Djibouti, also in Comorros tapping business btn those Islands n Zanzibar nTanzania mainland. When they saw a pipeline deal coming they jumped into Uganda n bought a bank there ready to tap oil money. Banking is about right strategies!
Djibouti has no real economy to talk about and Ethiopia is a closed market with only a few banks allowed to open representative offices there. So far only kcb and cfc. Exim is not tapping any ethiopian business otherwise it would have offices in Ethiopia. As for Tanzanian banks not being interested in kenya is more because of the inability to compete. So far it is the most profitable market for banks especially because of a lower level of foreign exchange risk exposure and a more developed financial services sector. Ghana use to be the same but high interest rates and a volatile cedi have made it unattractive

Quickly, no bank enters a market without seeing an opportuniy. Bank M r very connected at corporate business segment! Pretty sure they will take away Tanzanian business that operate btn the two countries. BTW how do u know the CEO yuko single na anatisha vp?

Bypass, those guys r there longer n make profits big time from business btn Djibouti n Ethiopia as the name for the bank implies. Unless u want to argue for no reason

More liquidity is coming in the market. Good for swing trading.

It will take time. Traders are all the same. We need new traders who'll increase transactions by volume.

Ask all your fellow graduates if they know anything about stocks. And if they're planning on buying.

this is the bussiness capital of EA, all major financial institutions are looking to join in the fun,.... so for all those banks of yours to be just sitting there waiting for oil to come....my goodness, first of all did you know that Tz has the most unbanked % of population here in EA... so maybe your banks dont value people, they just want big campanies to put all there monies with them and thats it. but if you maiting for Uganda oil money, dont hold your breath, they will want to put oil money in Ugandan banks, preferably ones owned by govt.... if you lucky, you'll get the scraps from individuals who have benefited.....

alafu about Tz, hio DTB made more profit because if am not mistaken, they were in Tz longer than most of the other Kenyan banks.........

KCB has assets worth $7B while DTB is worth $2B

Kafrican, business capital n being avoided on largest regional projects? Keep dreaming i see Tanzanian and Ugandan bank expanding massively with oil n gas business money coming!

Kafrican, who trades with KCB? That DTB is Aga Khan Bank n most obvious supported by his business across the region n Shia community in the region.

For now in most of Africa day trading is not posible for the common man. The transactional costs are too high.here in kenya the average is 2% a transaction meaning that the movements have to be atleast 6% for one to make any profit. It is more suited to a long term investor not a fat trader

Geza define big time. From what I know their subsidiaries account for 3% of their profits. That's hadly a killing. Meaning that they hadly feel those "big time" profits

C'mon now no need for name calling. Fact remains it is not making any profits there worth mentioning 3% of its revenue from both regions is negligabe. Not 3% of the trade.get it? Kenyan banks are eying the Ethiopian market . So are the south Africans. A small economy with only 11banks. With no international banking presence there. Basically no Barclays, stanChart, CITI and the rest. Surely even you can see there is no money there.

Are they the largest projects really? just because you got the pipeline based on geography and environment suddenly makes you the bussiness capital?

getting the pipeline has nothing to do with bussiness in the sence we are talking about... . .. which lawyers benefited the most by making abitration, mergers, takeovers, aquditions for multinational companies here in east africa? 70% of all the money whent to Kenya. .. . why? because when they come, they first land in Nairobi, they establish all they need before travelling to east african ciuntries to make deals and investements there

as long have we have the skilled humsn capital all that oil and gas money wont be enough to get ahead of us

From what i can surmise, this bank is not the senior partner, but is riding the coattails of oriental. If they want to take the corporate segment sawa basi, i thought they were more ambitious, but then...
I can see you have no "man eyes" Geza Ulole .

Quickly, as far as i know Bank M has taken over 50% of oriental bank, unless u explain to me what do u mean with that "not a senior partner" while r on verge to change the name of oriental bank!
