...while I agree with arguments that the monopoly of TANESCO, of power supply is part of the problem, I am hesitant to support that giving rum to the private sector wil solve the problem. Isnt that what's brought us here? The IPTL, RICHARD DO MONDWANS, DOWANS, etc.

Yes, we need more hydro power. Wenzetu wanachukulia suala la kuwa na vyanzo endelevu vya kupata nishati ni suala zito na nyeti kama masuala ya Usalama wa Taifa. Sio tu masuala ya kukusanya data na taarifa za kijasusi bali hata masuala ya upatikanaji nishati endelevu, kukuza uchumi n.k pia ni masuala ya ki-usalama wa taifa.

President needs to declare a national Emergency and allow the professionals - @ Tanesco to solve the immediate short term problems (not the politicians at the ministry), and then leave serikali iwasimamie tanesco ku solve long term problem!!
.....Let them deal directly with manufacturers/ supplies no middlemen...

Binafsi naamini siyo Tanesco ibakie kwenye kusimamia the national grid - yaani kukusanya umeme kutoka vyanzo mbalimbali, kuusimamia na kuhakikisha unapatikana. Makampuni binafsi yawe na kazi ya kuuza na kusambaza na kuhakikisha kuwa hakuna kampuni ambayo inasambaza umeme zaidi ya asilimia 25 ya nchi; lengo ni kuondoa monopoly. Upande mwingine Tanesco pia inaweza kubakia katika kusambaza njia za umeme na makampuni yenye kuuza umeme yanakodisha njia za Tanesco na kulipa (capacity charges).

Wazo ni zuri sana lakini inabidi tuwe waangalifu sana itakuwa monopolised na wakubwa tu kama vile kazi za parking (Ngombale Mwiru) au TICTS (Karamagi) etc etc...

Kwahiyo umeme bado inakuwa si issue ya wengi iwe mjini iwe kijijini.
Watumiaji wa umeme wanatumia kuwasha taa huku wakipika kwa kuni mkaa na mafuta ya taa. Umeme unatumika zaidi kwa mwangaza na majokovu si nishati itumiwayo kufanya kila jambo majumbani.
Kwakidokeza tu,hata suala la maji lina sura inayofanana na hiyo,watu wlaiounganishiwa maji majumbani mwao ni kidogo sana walio wengi wanadandia huduma hiyo hapa na pale. Watu wanao dandia huduma si rahisi kudai huduma hiyo kwa sauti moja
Tukkirudi tena kwenye suala la umeme, kwa vile watumiaji wa umeme ni kidogo kulinganisha na idadi ya watanzania kuna watu wengi mijini na vijijini waonao nishati ya umeme kuwa tatizo lakini si tatizo la kuwagusa moja kwa moja. Watu hawa si rahisi kwao kupiga kele za kudai upatikanaji wa nishati hiyo. Kwa si suala la kufa na kupona.
Kam mwana Mageuzi na nipendayye Positive Change Ninafurahia kwamba Serikali ya CCM inajitengenezea Kifo yenyewe kupitia mabadiliko yanayoendelea kila siku nchini Tanzania.
1 Kasi ya kupanuka kwa miji yetu haiendanii na ukuajiwa huduma zote mijini huduma kama maji nishati ya umeme, mifereji ya maji machafu ,barabara, Usalama wa raia, open space, na usafi.
2 Vijana wasiokuwa na kazi baada yakuhitimu Vyuo vikuu na kidato cha sita wanaongezeka kwa kasi sana, ongezeko lao haliendi sambamba na ongezeko la kazi.
Hayo mawili hapo juu ni Mabomu ya kutosha kuipeleka serikali ya CCM chini.
Yeyote mwenye uwezo wa kutumia mitaji hiyo miwili anaweza kuiangusha serikali ya CCM ndani ya mwezi mmoja bila kutumia nguvu ya chama cha kisiasa dini wala itikadi.

If we could be together, this problem could have been solved since then. But the decision makers and implementers have two different thoughts and acts. The biggest problem in our system is political relying style of every plans. Nothing is considered and treated technically.

Let me air my views a bit.I usually don't like talking about this issue, but lets have some things in perspective.
Some people championed privatisation of the energy sector,as TANESCO abuse the monopolistic role.There is an issue that most people are not aware of - the power industry is highly capital intensive. Returns have to be spread over decades. No Tanzanian investor is into that sort of long term investment, and foreigners cannot be sure that Tanzania will remain stable long enough for them to recoup their investments.
Also, the electrical power industry is essentially three tiers- generation, transmission and distribution.Experience from Indian Power sector,i learnt there was that you do not put transmission in the hands of private organisations.
Even if privatization is the Ultimate (i.e. final) solution, the government must show it is serious by aggressively investing in power plants and in improving the transmission and distribution systems as well.
When you put your money where your mouth is, then others will come in. . . sitting pretty on 94 billion and expecting others to scamper in to spend money in an unstable and patently risky market is foolhardy - it won't happen.
Ironically, we satisfy all the requirements for the categorisation as a failed state. A dwindling economy, incessant religious and political unrests, undemocratic tendencies, unscrupulous and unpatriotic politicians, endemic corruption, sick nation ruled by Wicked leaders,weak President

Tanzania cannot boast of anything our education has decayed , we can't have decent housing, our health system is stagnant, roads in bad shapes, power non existing, we cannot feed ourselves, unemployment alarming, corrupt politicians ,we import virtually everything including clothing.Unless we take a drastic measures

Ili mchakato huu ufanikiwe lazime tutengeneze responsible government, ambayo itasimamia miradi hii kwa faida ya wananchi. Na nilazima tuwe na community ambayo inaheshimu sheria na wale wasio heshimu wanakwenda keko.
Hizi agenda zote tukizifanyia kazi katika hali kama hii ya sasa, basi ni wazi kabisa wachache watafaidika.

Corrupt leaders, conflicts of interest and lack of competence are the main reason for the power crisis. The companies that can provide power are so many, and I know is not only Richmond that bid for the same works. Selfishness and coruption are the reasons of selecting companies like richmond and iptl for power generation, the main motive was the kickback received and not power generation. Toothless anticuruption activities are making us to be here, this kind of unhuman behaviour of forgetting the people who have sent us to positions that we are in is going to cost us hard. If one thinks that he is going to be peacefull by destroying our own contry we are cheating ourselves is a subotour and the law has to to take its cause.

The problem with Tanzanians is to blame on each and everything whilst they sit aside and look. You go to the bars, restaurant and other public places, everyone now is capable of talking even if they do not have a point. Folks, lets not forget that not all who shout loud are sensible, or not all who shout louder are lions. I believe most of these guys are those who can not even return to Tanzania to contribute whatsoever for the growth of the Nation. Instead they point fingers to the government leaders even when they have done good to the Nation. I challenge you people abroad, come join us tujenge Tanzania hapa.
