EZY PESA MARKET SHARE HAS REMAINED UNCHANGED WHILE HALOTEL MONEY ONLY LAUNCHED IN APRIL 2017, GAINING SINCE 358,217 USERS.
Tanzania, Jan 4 – The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has released their Quarterly Statistics Report of Q3 2017 that has recorded a significant numerical rise in the Mobile Money Subscriptions (Mobile Money Accounts).
The number went up to 21,611,855 in September 2017 that as well records good business prospects.
The data shows that the figures have had +6.5% increases that sets the figures to 1.3 million as compared to the initial 20,285,810 recorded at the end of Q2 2017. There was a potential increase of +24.1% to record 4.2 million accounts registered in comparison to 17, 06,033 registered in September 2016.
Mobile money M-Pesa of Vodacom continues to express its dominance in the market with a whopping 37% share, which is followed closely by Airtel Money with 32%. Tigo Money falls on the third with 28% as Halotel Money trails with 2% and Ezy Pesa of Zantel finishes with 1% dominance.
Despite their presence and dominance in the market, M-Pesa and Tigo Pesa slipped their control in 2016, falling from 41% and 36% market share in that order at the conclusion of Q3 2016. Airtel Money recorded a better data showdown with a rise from 22% in its market share same year.
Ezy Pesa market share has remained unchanged while Halotel Money only launched in April 2017, gaining since 358,217 users.
