Tanzania Food drugs Authority (TFDA) in cooperation with the Institute of Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA) has launched a delivery system permits digital system (e _portal) that will enable Tanzania Food Drug Authorities TFDA server its customer using the network and increasing efficiency.
The system has been launched today which has approximately 300million Tsh from (TFDA) and Tanzania Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA) institute contributed US$250,000 in order to improve the system. This launched includes improvements to services delivery system through electronic began in 2011.
Besides Tanzania Mark Trade East Africa to contribute US$ , has pledged to continue assisting TFDA other improve in system including laboratory servicers ,improve payment system through the internet and other final step Tanzania Trade Mark East Africa connect (TFDA) to Nation single Window system a project that is in preparation.
Speaking at the launch Prof Mohammed Baraka, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said this system will facilitate in making decision strictly in the assurance of permits for importing and delivering product abroad and warrants will be shortened. However this system will help in serving customer in registering the quality, safety and efficacy of food Product, drug, and cosmetics .This system will increase the level of customer in compliance with legal requirements and existing product in market.
For his part, Director General of Tanzania Food Drug Authorities (TFDA) Hiiti B.Sillo said Tanzania Food Drug Authorities recognizes the contribution of Tanzania Trade Mark East Africa in developing e-portal system, which will facilitate data collection, analysis and storage of registration information, coordination and monitoring of information and quality and safety of product in the county.
Director of Trade Mark East Africa Tanzania chapter, Dr Josaphat Kweka, added that portal is expected to accelerate the registration, reduction in coordinating the effectiveness of food and medical devices.
To serve its clients more efficiently and comprehensive Management information system to be used for data collection , storage and analysis pertaining to regulation and decision making and expected benefit of the portal include increased efficiency through time and cost saving for stakeholders, as the portal eliminates the need for physical presence at TFDA offices and documents easier access to standardised information ,increased compliance rates and better transparency and accountability in services offered by the Authority.
