As far as i can recall, religion came with all the exploitation, oppression and humiliation, it brought dis-unity and factions of believers and non-believers.

I am extremely afraid you don't know what religion actually is and what are its very foundations. Religion, by definition simply means the study of the workings or operations of godliness, whose foundations is God Himself. Don't tell me Africans had no knowledge of the true God before religion was formally reintroduced to them. Most importantly, anything from God is characterized by perfection, which includes equality, prosperity and respect and love for all.

The church protects the interests of the industrial elites by peddling the message of self-serving patriotism.Clergymen behave like capitalists in the way they hoard assets, land, gold, stocks and straight up cash.Freedom from mental slavery .

I hope, when you say "the church" you are referring the the early, old, cheating and deceiving colonial church that came with the "bible" in one hand and contracts for stealing our land and our riches in the other hand! Today we have genuine churches that preach the Word of the truthful God, the Almighty Creator of the universe and all that are in it and below it.
